I've never read a story even close to as personal about Mick as that one. Especially not nationally. That is a huge deal for this program. Hard to believe anyone would complain about it. Bill Koch doesn't even write articles like that, let alone someone from ESPN.

Even Mick doesn't say never but as long as the school makes efforts he will be here. He simply wants to win and he wants to win here. All Mick Cronin is asking is for the environment to do so.

Omg I wasn't complaining about it. Just saying he will stay a bearcat as long as uc devotes to him. Let's move on. IVE already said it was a great article. So stop assuming I was complaining about it.

one of us

Mick comes across as who he is.....genuine, homegrown, a Cincy boy through and through - kind of guy you could sit down with over a beer and some skyline - no pretensions - great interview - all recruits should see these kinds of interviews...this is who Cronin really is, honest & caring

Well said. He is what college basketball is all about. There are only a couple handful of coaches like him and we are lucky to have him here. He takes great pride in what he has done at UC in his first 8 years. He is just now starting to see the benefits of his hard work and solid foundation. The next 8 years have so much potential to be really special. Its really exciting to see the positive direction our program is heading.

Jeff, Mick would be crazy to say never. Not because he would actually leave but because it would impact his ability to negotiate a good contact with UC. I think he is here for as long as he sees improvements in certain areas and he feels he has a chance to win a title.

So you're saying we agree?

This article along with one too many late night beers gave me the nightmare of Mick Cronin turning around right after releasing this article and leaving for some nobody school for a huge increase in pay. That lead to some cold sweats and the breathing bag.

A few minutes into a Cincinnati practice, as the Bearcats prepared for a midweek trip to UCF, everything seemed fluid and sleek. Cronin never raised his voice or stomped his feet as he directed his squad in the intense defensive drills -- three players clunked their heads during one hectic scramble for a loose ball -- that condition a program rated fifth in adjusted defensive efficiency, per Ken Pomeroy.

It was all smooth until something happened that observers along the sideline missed. Some breakdown, some lapse.

Cronin abruptly interrupted the session for a brief motivational chat.

"We're trying to win the national f-----g championship!" he growled.

Like his peers in the profession, Cronin has a little crazy in him. It's a good crazy, though -- birthed by an unyielding passion. And it's an attitude his players love.

"That's my best friend," senior forward Justin Jackson said. "That's like my mentor. He's hard on you just because he wants what's best for you."

That is my favorite part!!!
