this type of play is finally showing how good of recruiting cronin has actully done this brawl has shown us how bright the future can and prob will be and hell way things are going even if we are playing winless team the future might be now it is possible beginning year wasnt who we are meaning the actual play

Then what was Coach Cronin doing in the off season to get this team ready?

From game 1 this season, this is the type of basketball this team should have been playing. Thats why the beginning of this season has been so frustrating. It took a brawl for Mick to change the style of play.

I'm glad Mick has changed it sooner than later, but its just frustrating that this wasnt the focus way before the season began

Great ball movement tonight
Great shooting
Good transition baskets
Likin Gaines and his offense will only get better

Still would like to see more of an inside out passing game or dribble drive to open the 3 (showed some)
Don't be afraid to push the ball off of missed shots (think Nelson even mentioned it a couple times)
Give me LL, Thegr81, Bjeff and Ralph and we'd compete against Chi St

Overall, I liked it and hopefully they don't abandoned this play vs quality teams

I don't agree with that criticism. You have a system in last year's team that took them to 24-7 during the regular season. Why shouldn't they be able to run it? ...
I think he planned to switch at some point, not this year. It explains the abundance of versatile guards.
(and Shaq Thomas)

When they were winning last year, this is the style of bball you saw.

BS... It was rigid, it ran from the low block. Gates was the center piece, the only similarity is that last years team got transition buckets. They weren't spaced like they are now, they took nowhere near as many 3's and the team rebounding last year, where everyone followed the shot, isn't in practice at all.

The defense last year lead to transition breaks, but to say this offense at all resembles the glacial one from last year is a load.

Take out one of the bigs and add a guard. It sure as hell wasnt what we saw at the beginning of this season

Last years team took 651 3's. This years team is at 242.
Avg of 18 a game. But, you're right, the O went through Gates who last season avg 1.2 assist and 11 pts
They are looking to attack and score, not kill time and play defense

I don't disagree that it's changed this year, I just remember last year's offense being much different.
As for the 3's, they took 35 tonight.
They've changed their outside shoot numbers drastically, so that season average is really meaningless.
I agree especially with the killing time bit, they were dribbling around too much early this year. Annoyingly so.

My point is, they are looking to score. Just as they did last year when things turned around.

Tonight I saw a full court-3/4th quarter press as I did last year.
I saw a transition game as I did last year.
I saw players looking to score as I did last year.
I saw players crashing the offensive glass as I did last year.
I saw bench points as I did last year

They took 35 3's tonight, but I dont see that being the season average. (last year vs St Johns, UC attempted 30

They're not going to shoot at this crazy clip from the three all year but I like the way it spreads the floor and gives opportunity for penetration. I still need to see what happens when the 3 isn't falling what this offense will look like. How good will the decision making be? My hope is that when the 3s aren't falling they won't fire away and go 1-20. I'm hoping they'll keep the same style but attack the rim even more. That's when Yancy will be big. But I'm loving what I see now. The fact that they're having fun and are confident is huge to me.
