Fifth Third Arena Renovation

better get used to the idea of watching from the top of the lower bowl because anyone who gives to the project is going to blow past you in priority points.

Lol, after 54 consecutive years, there will be very few, if any, blowing past me...including you.

As for the program, recruiting is the main concern. This arena will do very little for recruiting. Great recruits will not come here to play in this bleeding eyeballs slow-down offense to play for a coach that won't get them to the next level.

A power 5 conference won't do it either. We already saw this guy's recruits while playing in the greatest conference in the history of mankind, and they weren't very impressive.

From a fan standpoint, I will embrace and enjoy all the new luxuries and amenities and comfort that this new arena will provide from my exact same seat location, or better. I might even choose to bump you out of your seats...but then why would I downgrade. Makes no sense.

Love the new arena, but it won't fix our #1 issue. We already have some of the finest facilities in all of college basketball and we still can't get recruits to come here.

You must've been the nerdy/ bullied kid growing up with how much you like to brag about your seats and how you mingle with Pres Ono and the likes every weekend. Relax man. No one cares about your seats in the second row.

As for Mick's recruiting in the Big East, the program was in the dumps then. Yeah, it's not the best program now, but if we were in a P5 the recruits would be that much better. How many players we lose to smaller P5 schools just for the exposure is probably more than we all know.

Maybe better recruits means better offensive? Players who are ranked higher are probably more efficient scorers and shooters. So, make the program the best it can be by having everything up to date technology wise, move into a better conference and see what players want to become Bearcats.

Com'on man, if you're going to post, please try to be factual. I know many in here will believe a lot of these erroneous posts, but those in the know will correct you like I am about to do.

After we returned to the NCAA tournament (program no longer in dumps) and still playing in the Big East, Mick signed the mother-lode of recruiting classes. Jeremiah Davis, Cheikh Mbodij, Ge'Lawn Guyn, Octavius Ellis, Jermaine Sanders, and Shaq Thomas....all legendary and beloved Bearcats . After the next season, playing in the Big East again and going to the Sweet 16, he signed one single elite :)rolleyes:) recruit...Titus Rubles.

I hate to bring up our former coach, but we were in 12 consecutive years of the losing dumps and no NCAAs and horrible facilities and a mid-major conference and absolutely no fan support, and he signed Herb Jones, Corie Blount, Nick Van Exel, Erik Martin, Terry Nelson, Terrace Gibson, Curtis Bostic, Anthony Buford, etc. See any difference?

Lol...evidently Madman does.

You don't hate bringing up Huggs, otherwise you wouldn't do it. You are a Huggs homer and won't be satisfied until Mick is gone and we hire some up and coming coach who, again, won't do what Huggs did in his first years. Get over the Huggs era. It was great. The teams were awesome. But it's the past and current recruits weren't even alive when they were playing.

You know what players these recruits did see and what players got the program to the NCAA Tourney? Kilpatrick, Cash Wright, Yancy Gates, and Dion Dixon. I'd say those guys are pretty beloved for taking the program back to the tourney.

The new arena will help the program out a lot. Stop being stubborn and a curmudgeon because you think Cronin is the worst coach in the history of the sport. If the university and the powers at be thought a new arena and getting into a P5 conference weren't important why would they be doing all they can do get both of those? I'd let you ask them next time you see them since you are always hanging out with them.

That mute tool is very confusing. Looks like Bearcat513 is just talking to himself or something.

Lol....we know you don't have me on ignore and that statement you just made proves it. I'll let you figure out why. Keep enjoying my insight.:D

Would it be better if I use Xavier as an example of how up and coming coaches can recruit and succeed time and time again, even while playing in a 16 year old arena and a non-power 5 conference?

Hope midnight madness come back with new arena.

Mick is unable to fire the fanbase up, nor is he able to land top recruits that get people excited, so Midnight Madness would be more like Midnight Serenity....800 or so of the biggest fans who venture out to see the new team. I would go, but I know what you're talking about. Those days of an almost full Shoemaker for Midnight Madness, with Dick Vitale and nationally televised on ESPN were awesome and give me chills just thinking about them. The program has fallen a long way since those days. There's just no interest anymore, both locally or nationally.

There wouldn't be a better way to welcome the new arena than to have a Midnight Madness type event. Maybe invite only for those who purchase season tickets before the season? Show off the new lights, sound system, video screen, etc. Would be perfect.

That was a great class Huugins brought in. I often wonder how much different the program would look if he had led us into the big east. It's a shame he couldn't keep his fat drunk ass off the highway.

This and invite every high school basketball team in region

So Jarron Cumberland was #41 in the final 247 rankings. Thats not good enough of a recruit?

Xavier got a lot of hype for their class and yet there best recruit is ranked #101. They just happened to get 1 more than us but if we land another, our final class won't be too bad.

Soon we will have a lineup built of 4 star recruits (Clark, Washington, Evans, Cumberland) and overlooked players (Cane Broome) who can score.

You make it seem as if the future is so bleek, I see a future of UC's best offensive talent in multiple years.

I agree no reason mick shouldn't be able to land couple studs to go along with mick best ever roster.
