Why would UC get hit with a lawsuit? If you are referring to the issue with the Police Department, I suggest that we leave that off of this forum. It has zero to do with UC Athletics and any arena funds will be raised specifically for the arena project and would not be used for anything other than what was specified to the donors.

we might not get a new arena

If UC doesn't have to put a dollar down, I am ALL for it...

Hasn't that Nederlander group that owns it previously stated they want UC to put down a huge chunk of money to help renovate it? I thought that's what made downtown no longer an option. They wanted UC to do most of the work and get little ticket/concession profit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that was the case last year.

Cincinnati, Hamilton County and the University of Cincinnati should explore a plan to renovate U.S. Bank Arena but moving UC basketball games to the downtown arena will be a key part of any plan coming together, said Hamilton County Commissioner Greg Hartmann.

These articles have come out every few months or so. These groups need UC to get them and the city a great arena. Problem is the city, the county and Nederlander don't do anything for UC. UC would have to pony up money and split revenue. UC can spend that money on its own arena, keep all the revenue and keep its alumni (season ticket holders) and students (future season ticket holders) happy by being on campus.

This is a last ditch effort via public politicking to get UC to move downtown before it OK's its own arena renovation. Anybody think the city or county will pony up money to entice UC to go down there? I don't.

I don't think the city will, nor should they give money for a US Bank renovation. While I do think a newly renovated arena would be huge for this city, I think taxpayers have been through enough when it comes to stadiums and arenas(PBS comes to mind)

What did we go through? If I to order a med soda instead of a large soda ONCE a week on lunch to help finance a arena im all for it. Your tax money is going to taken and spent no matter what it's used for. People go bunkers over pennies.

Here's a humorous but pretty accurate take as to why.

The return they from stadiums is more than anything you really can invest in. That arena might be best in region by far if we can pull it off. Nba, college, high school sports/graduations, concerts, conventions, weddings you name it would have that place booked for years. We'll get at least mens/women's final four in at least first 7 yrs.
