I remember when we beat Louisville at home 2 years ago and the student section was chanting to chane Bahanan "CINCI HATES YOU!" Rick patino called that the best home court advantage he has faced.
Or when undefeated Syracuse and the second ranked team came to town in front of a rocking sold out shoe and we beat them.
I have many great experiences at the shoe and can't wait to go again Saturday.
Bottom line when it's packed the shoe is great IMO

Experts rank top ten basketball arenas to take a game in.
Fifth third made made one of the experts, pat forde, list at 8.

Some may disagree, but when Louisville and Memphis come to town the shoe can get loud, when sold out the stadium is great. I hope we get a good showing for the Rutgers game!

While I'm surprised that it made any top 10 lists considering all the great arenas out there (whether it's amenities or history), I do love the Shoe when the place gets packed. Sure we don't get the luxury of modern arenas when it comes to the bathrooms, concessions, etc, but how loud the place gets is quite exciting. We have heard many visiting coaches state something along the lines of being such a great home court advantage. I really look forward to near capacity crowds the rest of the way as I enjoy not being able to hear myself think when the crowd gets on their feet.

got some big home games coming up and having a packed arena would be huge for the program for a number of reasons. Recruits, conference realignment and motivation for the team not to mention financially.

When was this? I remember a couple years ago they came in for a Monday night headliner game and they beat us. We beat them in the Big East tourney when they were ranked #2. The Shoe was rocking that game but unless you're thinking of a different game we lost that one.

That Louisville game was nuts. I remember Georgetown on senior night a couple years back being a great crowd and a Marquette game a couple years back where they were ranked and we rolled them. The Shootout used to always get a good crowd. I miss my student days when Kenyon and Levett roamed the court. That helicopter dunk he did and when he dropped 40 and Kenyon's 2 triple doubles and his thrashing of Saint Louis on senior night.

Are you thinking of the BE game at MSG? We were the only team to beat Syracuse with Fab Melo.

I don't ever remembering beating them at 5/3.

He's definitely thinking of when we lost to Cuse. I was there too. Sold out. I believe the final was like 60-53. They were #2 in the country and had one loss I believe.

Cuse had just lost to Notre Dame as well. I believe we played a really good game up until the end.

Yes, my bad we did loose that, we came out hot tho and the crowd was nuts, I guess I was thinking of the way we beat them at msg which was possible my favorite game to watch as a cats fan

Look at UC's all-time record there and you'll agree there is something special about it. There are a lot of flaws and it probably is not a top ten arena in college basketball all things considered, but in terms of a home court advantage it ranks pretty high.
Let's get the place rocking on Saturday to push UC back into the top 25 where they belong.

I agree 100% with the above. Is it a top 10 arena?? Probably not. 5/3rd is an absolute dump, there's no doubt about it. But it's our dump and I for one love the shoe when it's packed.

We don't pack many games these days but when the crowd is into it and the place is full 5/3rd is one of my favorite places to be.
