After watching Florida play last night, I think we can beat them.

If they get hot from 3, it will be hard but in general we can beat them.

Keys to the game would be:
  • Slow them down, do not let them beat you down the floor
  • Rebound like your life depends on it, or like you got your ass kicked on the boards in your last game
  • Attack the rim. Florida had ZERO protection for the rim and they couldn't stay in front of their man.
  • Get it to Kyle and Gary and make them guard the post.

If FSU can beat them on home court I would hope we can beat them on neutral. I really think we need to come out of OOC with at least 1 signature win. UCLA doesn't look like it's going to be it.

You forgot the most important key to the game. UC has to out swag Florida

After a week like this I don't feel quite as bad about the X game. 6 teams above us in the polls lost proving many teams are still going through some growing pains. If we can get the Cane Broome from Saturday going forward we can still have a great season.

I did not want to see FLA lose but at the same time we have learned they are beatable. I think we will come out swinging.

I couldn't agree more. This week shows you that at any given night anything can happen.

Wow if we lost to Ball State at home, there would be "Fire Cronin" signs everywhere. Realistically, losing by double digits against a rivalry on the road on our first hard test of the year actually makes perfect sense. Losing at home to Ball State or losing at home by 17 to an unranked school doesn't make sense.

We will be fine, but man I really want to win Saturday. We see that Florida can be beat and we know they don't have a post. Cronin and the players need to game plan and execute well, we can beat this team.

We really need this win. Here are the teams in our conference with better wins than us:
WSU: 2
SMU: 2
Temple: 4
Houston: 2
UCF: 3
UConn: 1
Memphis: 2

This was my fear when when I saw our schedule. There is a significant chance we walk away with just 1 top 100 in the non conference. Wyoming is falling fast and could fall out of the top 100.

Most of our conference has far better wins then we do. If we don’t beat Florida or ucla, expect a 6-9 seed no matter what we do in conference and we will deserve it. We played a worse schedule than teams in power 5 leagues and we will pay the consequences for it. I don’t think Xavier, Florida and ucla is enough to make up for the bad teams on our schedule. Playing @xavier moved our SOS up a single spot from 340 to 339. Every one acted like the big name teams would offset the bad teams but that’s just not the case. Our SOS is jarring on a team sheet and it’s been the narrative about us so far.

I was told to relax in the off-season about our scheduling and relaxed not the word I would use about our current situation.

Absolutely need to beat Florida. If we don’t we screwed if we want to make a non Cinderella run in the tourney

I think you're changing the story a lot when you talk about not winning any of our big OOC games. I think most of us would have agreed we needed to win at least 1 if not 2 between X, FLA, and UCLA. Tell me something. Let's say we don't win any of them (like your example above) but let's also say we replace 2 of our 300+ OOC wins with 2 top 150 wins. Do you really think the committee is going to be that much more impressed and shoot us up several seed lines? Not likely at all. Only if we added AND BEAT 2 more of their new Tier 1 games would it likely make much difference. Those are top 30 home games, top 50 neutral, or top 75 road games.

I think the subject (at the time) was about gaming the RPI by scheduling more teams in the top 150 range vs 300+. I don't think we are going to impress too many committee members with that kind of thing.

RELAX Hub. We will be fine. Lets just keep winning and focus on looking better. I would rather go in a confident 6 seed that looks really good then not make it at all. Lets just get better and win. Cant stress about seeding. You can only worry about the game right in front of you -Florida.

I think what your failing to see is the way our schedule is, its unlike any other top tier team this year. In Kenpom's top 30 teams, only 2 teams have a SOS of 300+: UC and Miami.

Miami is going to get to play duke, fsu, UNC, Louisville, Virginia, ND, NC State, Clemson, FSU, & Virginia Tech as top 50 games in the conference season. Its safe to say they don't have to worry about SOS.

We are in a non power league and we have a glaring SOS problem.

Instead of Alabama St we could have played a team like Old Dominion (#76), Instead of Savannah State we could have played a team like Mercer (#96), Instead of playing Coppin State we could have played a team like NKU (#91).

Those are all top 100 wins where we would win by 20-30 points that teams in our conference played this year. If teams in our conference can afford these buy games, we can too.

if we took off those 3 300+ games, and subbed them with those easily winnable top 100 buy games, were have insurance in case shit goes real bad against X, UCLA & Florida.

But we didn't. We have no insurance. And if we do lose all 3 (not out of the realm of possibility being as we are not home in any of those games) then all we have in the non conference is a really really bad SOS and just 1 top 100 win.

Like I said, I know it was not exactly UC's fault because of our arena. But its still a problem regardless. All the pressure in the world is on these next 3 games.

IMO Florida is the most important game on our schedule. Currently we have just 3 ranked games left on our schedule and I don't see any team in the AAC getting ranked this year. We don't win and its bad news. Be optimist all you want, but that is the reality. I've said this from the start

Man, talk about beating a dead horse. I think you have brought it back to life, and then beat it again. You might be digging it back up for another? I think we are all aware of the schedule and seeding...We all knew UC really needed to go 3-1 out of this stretch..

Yes sir.

cant say hub is wrong. this year is unlike any other we've had. 6 teams 275 or worse on kenpom in our non conference. last year it was 1, 2 years ago it was 4, 3 years ago it was 1.

i thought we had learned the lesson about playing the very worst of the worst.

however last year only us and smu finished in the top 50 on kenpom. this year us, wichita state, smu, temple, and houston are currently there.

Agreed, Hub is not wrong, but he has been pushing this narrative the second the schedule was released. We get it.

Right we knew we had to go 3-1. If we don't, life will go on and we will still have an extremely high chance to have a successful year including a tournament run. I hope we beat Florida, words can't describe how excited I am for this game. I mean I talked 13 other people into going with me lol, but a loss is a possibility and the season will go on.

sometimes it makes you crazy when there is a huge problem sitting in the distance but people dont really want to think about it.

I'm just frustrated by it.

Our Best on paper team has little to no room for error.

All this can go away with a win against Florida. But if we lose, we will deservedly drop out of the top 25 and will have to win the next 2 to get back in it.

Lets just beat Florida.
