I dont think Mack is a bad coach, just dont think he'll be able to bring in enough quality players to maintain success.
Thats not Mack, thats the A10 in general.

If you want to know how I feel about Mack at Xavier, I was SO happy he turned down UT (allegedly). As long as Mack is there, they will never be worth a damn.
I would simply like you to define "worth a damn". He is two for two on getting to the tournament with 1 sweet 16. So if that doesn't fit your measuring stick for a coach in his first two years you either have extremely high expectations for Xavier or demand a lot out of a coach. Just curious which one it is.
His first two recruiting classes are also absolutely awful. Xavier is lucky that Lyons was ineligible his first year (a trend that seems to be developing over there for such a high quality institution), or their rising junior and sophomore classes would be absolutely awful, instead of just plain bad.

Ha, basing the whole class on their freshman year?! Oh boy. Just wait, Xavier is recruiting better than ever before.
I like how you think X is lucky Lyons is only a Junior, where as after his freshman year I'm sure you thought he wasn't going to pan out either.
X took some hits on the recruiting trail this year, no doubt about it. The question is, how do they recover? Will DSR re-commit to X for 2012?
Davis, Reynolds and Wells are a solid trio for 2011... I don't know that X is recruiting at it's highest level ever but the cupboard is far from bare.
Davis, Reynolds and Wells is probably one of the better recruiting classes Xavier has had. Throw in Justin Martin who will be a starter next year and thats a great freshman class IMO.
What's the X starting 5 looking like next year? We all need to know who Yancy and Co. are going to beat up on next year...
HA. Right now I would say Frease, Taylor(transfer), Martin, Lyons, Holloway. Redford/Robinson/Wells off the bench.
Looks like the question marks will be who's going to spell Frease at the 5 and what the production from the forward positions will be. Lyons and Holloway will be the best returning back court in the A-10.
Assuming Holloway comes back...
Where else would he go? Europe?
People have made worse decisions to go into the NBA draft.

I think he's more ready than Lance was- but doesn't have the physical package Lance has. With Tu it's more about production than it is about potential or athleticism, imo.

I would also wait to judge this last class, as X's best recruit had to sit out this year.
Yeah, I don't really know what more ready means. He is a better college player now than Lance was in his only year here. But his chances at the NBA are next to none. He doesn't have the length, quickness or shooting ability to play at the next level.
But he does hate school, is rumored to be graduating somehow this year which would mean he would have to take graduate level classes next year if he wanted to play, and could make solid money in Europe without the burden of class if he so choose.
Why did the recruit have to sit out this year? (That's rhetorical)
There are strong rumors that Xavier could be bringing in 2 additional players in Sim Bhullar and Ari Stewart (transfer) this year. If that happens, the only logical choices to leave are in the current bust of a freshman class (with the exception of Holloway of course).
