I dont understand that comment.....we are 3/4 of the way through the season. That is more than enough time to know what a team is or is not. This team simply isn't consistent enough to make a run for the tourney. If we struggle to beat mid to lower teams in the big east on the road I dont see us being able to win any of our upcoming road games.

Everyone in this league struggles to beat mid to lower teams in the Big East! Lets face it we had very little chance against ND at ND. We will still be ok if we steal one we arent supposed to then everyone will be back on the wagon.

If we get blown out and look completely lost against a team that was in the lower half of the conference......not too sure how you can expect a win against tougher competition on the road. Hopefully we do steal one but the way this team has looked on the road CONSISTENTLY this year I dont see your basis to think they will play better. I would say "realist" know what this team is by now.

Bad road team. Good home team. Average BE talent.

We have enough talent to beat anyone, but not on a consistent basis.

We need to win our home games. 'Cuse would be a big start.

If you do not expect to win you will lose. You are now Rutgers and St Johns.

Wrong. That is motivational bs that my grade school coach would sell.

As a fan, you can expect whatever you want.

It is different as a player. Every player always expects to win.

Problem with that logic is we aren't equally as good at home as we are bad on the road. We can't win on the road at all....but we dont win all of our games at home.

Only way to go to the tourney without winning a road game is going undefeated at home.

We need 5 more wins. I don't care how they come, but we need 5 more wins.

We aren't as bad on the road as you think. That was the second worst game we played all year. I still have a sour taste in my mouth, but we have a chance.

You are what your record says you are. While I agree that there is a lot of basketball left to play, I'm not exactly sure how you can be optimistic about our chances of winning 5 of them. Unfortunately this is the time of the year where we are at our worst. Other teams are getting better learning to play together and we regress.

Just a look at UC's past few Feb/March
06-07: 1-11 in last 12
07-08: 0-7 in last 7...including CBI loss
08-09: 1-6 in last 7...including losing final four games

Sports are all about trends and statistics.

1. Who said anything about optimism? Don't mistake my attitude as optimistic just because I don't cry, moan and bitch after every loss. Ranting and complaining isn't my thing.

2. Good use of statistics. I'm all about facts.

3. Hopefully we can buck the trend and play better.

5 wins.

I don't think that people on here are crying or moaning. They are reacting to what was an embarrassment last night and are fed up with the same lackluster performances from a team that we are all obviously passionate about.

All I ask for is to play with energy and hustle. No excuses for the disinterest and complacency from the players. I would love and am rooting for UC to right the ship this season but I really have no reason to think they will.

5 is the magic number. We win 19 games we are going dancing, put it in the books! We still dont have a bad loss on the season. This team is hard to watch because they play up and down to the level of their comp. I am predicting we pull-out a great showing on sunday and hopefully win. Everyone needs to relax, we are still 14-8 (5-5) and about where we thought we would be give or take the St. Johns game. On a side note, did anyone else see the absolutely redonkulous refereeing in that game last night. I mean i know it wouldnt have made a difference but dear lord I was yelling the entire game about crappy calls, phantom charge's, no touch and ones, and flopping on ND. God I hate how they play basketball!

First of all, Beasley and Mayo would not have come to UC if Huggins stayed.

Secondly, if Mayo would have come, we would have serious NCAA problems right now.

Thirdly, I don't really understand where this type of thinking gets you. I can understand being upset with the program right now, but even if Mick is fired, Huggins is not coming back to UC. Holding on to his memory really does no good when it comes to thinking about the current state of the program.

First of all, Beasley would have been a Bearcat, that is a guarantee. O, really, serious NCAA problems right now? What are they gonna do, ban us from the NCAA Tourny? We do a pretty good job of that by ourselves. My frustration is not about Huggins coming back, its about why is Mick our coach?

It was directed at post responses on this site of fans who some do not expect to win on the road in this league.I'm sure the players and coaches expect to win.

Beasley was following his former AAU coach. With Kennedy and Martin on the staff, Huggins would not have had a position that would have been considered a promotion for Hill, which was needed in order to entice Beasley to come to Cincinnati. So you are wrong there.

And yes, they would absolutely ban us from post season play, which is where USC is right now. And given the fact that UC was already on probation with Huggins, our punishment may have even been harsher.

If your frustration is with Mick, then you wouldn't bring up the what if scenarios that aren't even realistic, nor applicable to Mick.

Ya think what you want, but we still had a great shot at Beasley. But once again, so what if we are banned for 3 years from post season play, because I dont see us making it anytime soon anyways, as long as mick is here. O great, ESPN just said "UC is a sinking ship". That all starts with the head coach. But your right, who cares about the past, I want to know your honest opinion on Mick?

Beasley followed his AAU coach and legal guardian.

Don't be an idiot.

Say what you will about Huggins but he wouldn't have paid for OJ to come to UC. Huggs was/is smart enough to realize the kid was gonna be in college for a year. Not worth sanctions for a kid who as a college bball player was vastly overrated. OJ Mayo would not have been a UC bearcat.

Okay, ill still take. OJ, Bill, Downey.

Beasley would not have been a Bearcat.

So much happened between Huggins dismissal and his hiring at Kansas State.

OhioUBearcat is right that Huggs would never had taken on OJ with all the surrounding circumstances.

And, if he did, can you even imagine the mess left behind?

I'll say this once, but I don't want to say it again. Everyone that bashes the whole situation says what about the "class that would have been." Problem is, no one really knows if they would have come to UC or not. The fact is, until someone signs know one really can say that someone is going to this school or that school. Basically, everyone is saying that IF huggs stayed, then MAYBE we would have gotten one or two of these recruits. It's possible, but we never really will know.
