I wouldn’t mind playing in a nit or cbi. I know people think we are above that but didn’t West Virginia play in the cbi the year before last. You do what’s best for your program. Get the guys some confidence back. If they are wore out, and need a break, I get that too

Is the CBI even happening this year? The NIT is only taking 16 teams I believe. I agree, play in any tournament that will take us. Extend the amount of time you get to teach the guys this year.

Amen. We need that and certainly are not above it.

Yes it’s happening. I think in North Carolina or something.

Houston has 5-6 juniors/seniors that play on their team. These are guys with a 100 games experience under their belt against our guys. Grown men against freshmen. I get we shouldn’t lose by 40 but the sky isn’t falling either. They are a very experienced team. Sometimes the other teams is better. A lot better

They have experience, but they are just a bad match up for us. Memphis played them toe to toe twice, and we played with Memphis. Houston is really good at things we struggle with.

No team in the American Athletic conference should beat us by near 40 twice.

That’s not just out experienced. That’s flat out outclassed, out coached, out worked, out hustled, out defended, out shot, and flat out just wanted it more.

I think unless John changes his personnel choices in the future, this will always be the case with Houston. You will never be able to out finesse them except on a bad day for Houston. They will always out muscle, out defend and just out work our guys. We either match their intensity and toughness or settle for second place.

I love what Sampson did at Houston. I love that he turned down Power 5 jobs just to finish what he started. He epitomizes culture.

Check out this rise from Houston:
Here are Sampson’s final Kenpom ranks starting with his first season:
214
61
52
18
12
14
6

That’s culture. That’s not just steady progress. That’s elite growth that we should hope to mimick. He took a program that hadn’t been top 100 in 4 straight seasons, straight to the frickin top.

Let’s be real. They are the flag ship of the league now.

Let’s be real. They are the flag ship of the league now.

I don’t know why you go so overboard on your gut reactions. Yes they are a great team and kelvin has created a good program. But to anoint them flagship of our league from now on is a bit crazy. This was his first aac tourney title.

Brannen missing piece this off season is getting elite recruiter or defense specialist asst coach. Our guys let Houston roam around court without putting body on them or even attempt to deny pass

And they have been for 3 years. But if Grimes goes pro, that roster is going to be a lot different next year.

Grimes will go. He’s be dumb not to. He’s really improved his shooting. Jaurrea will probably be gone. White, Gresham, Gotham all seniors. They could come back but I’d guess a lot of them leave. I get they have guys on the bench but if they lose all those guys, that’s a lot to replace. They could be a bubble team.

Lol stop arguing with that man just because it’s weak ass hell! They’ve won more games than all but two teams pass 3-4yrs. In shitty league they have Jordan on their chest. I watched game with like 10 other non sports fans, they all acknowledged Houston coaches had on Jordans! Not the players they seen coaches. If they had kids I’m 100% certain they team Jordan

I’m willing to bet it’s doesn’t matter who they lose.

Last year, they were expected to return Nate Hinton and Caleb Mills. One went pro and the other left early season.

And yet Houston has finished with a 2 seed, and a top 10 kenpom rank.

People said when they lost Fabian, they’d also struggle. They didn’t. They still are the best offensive rebounding team in the country.

Tramon Mark is the future stud in waiting. Sasser is already a stud. I’d bet Fabian white returns.

But you could tell me Houston loses every body and Ill still pick them to win the league. Because literally every single time they graduate or lose players, people on this board and others say its going to be down year for Houston. BUT. It never happens. They can lose Robinson, Davis & Brooks and still come back strong. They lose fabian, Hinton, & mills and it didn’t matter.

I mean just think how crazy it is is that Houston lost the AAC player of the year and still got a 2 seed.

That’s culture

They’re walk ok basically looked like madsen clone. Like I be screaming we have upgrade every position on team and have today’s starters role players tomorrow.

I’m not overboard on gut reactions. I saw the Houston rise coming long before today. I said it when Mick was th coach and haven’t stopped saying it since

I don’t get the point. He’s 7 years in and a good coach. He has his thing rolling but let’s not act like he’s winning everything in sight. He has 1 conference tournament win. He’s had the best team in the league for 3 years, and hasn’t done much with it. They are a good team. Not sure why we need to freak out about it

Uh, ok. This probably made perfect sense in your head but it didn’t translate to a coherent message.
