But like Cronin always says: the most irrelevant stat in basketball is the score at halftime. We're a second half team. I have no isssues with letting the younger guys get work in the least important part of the game. They held the lead so even better
I can definitely see both sides of it. And there are situations where I'd agree to sit him. But for me personally, it was clear as day that we weren't the same and it could've cost us. It didn't last night. So it doesn't matter. I just hope that's not a general rule for Caupain bc it clearly isn't for Johnson (or Cumberland but that may have been due to the overall backcourt situation). If we're in a big game in March I'd hate to see Caupain sit for so long then end the game nowhere close to foul trouble. He's too important. Sit him for a stretch right when he gets the 2nd and see what happens, fine. But if we start to get in trouble, he can steady things. He's never fouled out in his entire career (116 games). He's only picked up 4 fouls 5 total times and only twice as an upperclassman. I think the concern for him specifically is being overstated.
