It was nowhere near as bad as the first time we played houston. They got phantom calls left and right. I think they had a guy foul out 3 min into the 2nd half. Refs are never an excuse.
. Watch any other game tonight and let me know what is a foul and what isn't. I'm not blaming it completely in the refs, but we couldn't do anything with out them mugging us. Take in another game tonight and then go back and watch ours. They we're mugging us all game . A tenth got called. Not the only reason but if me and you play one on one and I push and hammer you every possession, and it doesn't get called. Your going to look different in offense and your going to lose I promise.

I just hope mick watches this film and realizes Evans is simply not a pg. and when we use him there we run nothing at all. No movment and he just tries to iso. He doesn’t have the moves for that. It only worked at the end cause Houston wasn’t pressuring as hard cause they didn’t want to foul (still fouled on the shot though.)

It really took Jake out of his game and everybody else too. No movement, all standing and watching him pound sand.

And as much as we all love Moore, to play him the last 8 minutes was not something he’s ready for yet.

Nothing about this game made sense. We came out hot, getting up and down the floor and mick just slammed on the brakes and our team never got it back. He’s got to be questioning himself on the flight home, he stripped us of all our energy, it was baffling.

I agree, Evans had no clue what to do with the ball and how to initiate offense. I think he was afraid our pg's were too small with the physicality their defense was playing so he figured he'd get length in there. Also why I think he played Moore so much late. I'm surprised Broome didn't get a little more run, but I'm not as high on Broome as everyone else. He's not strong with the ball and not the smartest player at times and this game we could afford no mistakes, but at some point you got to try something different than watching Evans move backwards with the ball and everyone standing around.

As much as I want it, we all know Cronin by now. He held Lance back, it took Larry Davis to figure out that Cobb was better than KJ, Cumberland should have been getting more PT and starting over KJ last year. This year is no different, Broome should be playing and starting over JJ but there is 0 chance of it happening. Mick is way to conservative.

but it wasn't even that.

he benched cane completely tonight. didn't even give him a chance. ive never seen that with all those players you listed before.

very very strange.

Not feeling the Evans at PG experiment. Give me Broome, Cumberland, Evans, Clark, Washington and call it a day. I don't need to see 20 seconds run off the shot clock before we start attacking the basket.

Bingo. Love to know what the reasoning tonight was.

We're also not gonna win many games where we start 3-3 from 3 and then go 1-12 the next 35 minutes or so. Houston did a really good job taking away our 3 point attempts imo. Also thought they took a strategy of just foul every single play and the refs can't call them all. They also kicked our ass on the offensive glass. Gave up way too many oboards.

Our half court offense still is stagnant and I don't trust it.

All that said, we still had every opportunity to win a road game against a pretty desperate top 25-35 of team, and just didn't get it done.

We'll be fine, but like others noted, I'm really scared if Cane isn't an integral part of this team going forward. Hopefully he was sick or something.

if its has simple as hard double our big the instant they make the catch and our offense completely shuts down, its gonna be rough from here on out.

xavier did it, and houston did it and we just look out of it after that.

10 turnovers out of Wash, Clark, and Evans.

Sucks we lost but we were due for one. Hopefully it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. This team is soft at times and tonight they got outmuscled and honestly got punked. I don't think the refs were unfair tonight, but they did allow extra physical play. And that is our weakness. Should've gotten the ball in Washington's hands a little more. Instead of relying on Evans to create, use him as a screen and decoy to let Cumberland draw fouls or get the ball lower to Clark and Washington, they all are tougher and can draw fouls. Our offense tonight was clearly designed around drawing fouls off physical play. Cronin was right last game and after tonight in saying all they did was bully us on D. But with that said you have to have a strategy to beat that and having Evans eat the ball is not it. And no I don't think Broome being in would've made any difference cause he's not strong or big, but you have to try. He likes Jenifers D much better and you can't press a team like Houston so I guess I get why Broome didn't play, but he is your change of pace weapon. At some point let him try.

Yea, broome shoulda went somewhere where he could play alot and be like Alan iverson and do whatever he wanted... a place like sacred heart

Stop being dumb. He’s not that type of kid, he’s unselfish and can play. And it’s Allen not Alan. Cane sacrificed his own stats to be part of a team and to receive coaching. Not to be the whipping boy and sometimes the fall guy for others mistakes.

Then deal with how much pt he gets. You his dad?

i understand it's hard to win every game. hard to beat good teams on the road but if you are not at least worried about our offense against good teams, you have not been paying attention the last 10 years.

I mean they've scored 73 or more against every "good" team other than tonight and Florida. I'm chalking this up to an off night. Hopefully I'm not proven wrong

I love reading your posts, I really do but I promise you that this loss will drop us big time. Don't believe me then wait until polls come out Monday, even if we beat whichita state. Guarantee the next pre tournament bracket has us at the 4 seed

I'm gonna need an explanation as to how losing to a 20 win, tournament team, on the road is gonna drop us "big time".

So what was the reason that Cronin didn’t play Broome when we had no offensive flow?

That’s my biggest concern from this game.

Here we go again with the he’s not strong with the ball thing. How many turnovers do Cane have this far this year. I’ll answer that, I think about 38. And none the last 2 games. And he does lead the teams in turnovers. And to make it worst I think out of all the players Cane was the one player they couldn’t stay in front of. As evident by the end of the first meeting. I think it’s time to retire the Cane isn’t strong with the ball and he turns the ball over to much phase.

Physical defenses is our Achilles heal. We're too soft. Tonight was an off night, but at some point there is some truth to we seem to always have an off night vs. the best teams we play. Too few chances for marquee wins and tonight was a blown opportunity vs. a team we should've beaten. Better tonight than in march though. Learn from this and get tougher.

He couldn't defend their guards. You only play if cronin thinks you can defend. That's why moore got minutes, jennifer snd broome failed on d.
