How many "experts" continue to say they're a potential final 4 team? When's the last time you heard that? Not saying it's definite but our defense is almost always there, and it's a world class defense. That carries you in March. Add the fact that they routinely go for 70+ and you have something special. Something not too many teams in the country can say they have.

Every year we have "world class defense" according to some of the posters here but where has that gotten us in recent tournaments?

it was a weird way to coach that one, thats for sure.

why did we go into our last 5 minutes of a game offense with 30 minutes left? and then we never got out of it. We made I think 5 shots combined the last 10 minutes of the first half and last 12 minutes of the 2nd half and 2 of them were in the last 18 seconds. so basically 3 shots in 22 minutes of game play.

Should have switched it up somehow for sure. Insanity.

Try Cane. Use Washington and Cumberland more. Anything!

your first sentence here, you should mean it for yourself. cause everything you wrote about broome is just wrong.

good day.

You can feel free to refute anything I said but that's my take. I watch players closely and at home games see plenty of things that don't show up on TV. I watch Broome closely and see him having to be pointed out to where to go on defense. I see him take his eyes off the play and that's why he makes bad passes. I mean, do we really think Cronin is just that dumb and shortsighted to not see Broome is some great player? He's led this team to a high level of winning with less talent repeatedly and yet he just somehow is missing the ball on Broome? Along with every other great coach who didn't chase him scoring 23 points a game? I get the average fan gets caught up in the street ball plays he can make, but I'm not the average fan. I actually have a pretty good understanding of the game and I call it as I see it with him. Broome is great in the press and one on one defense because of his quickness. He can beat a guard off the dribble but can't score past the second level. He can make the sexy pass IF he draws the defense and the spacing is there. IF... and he's probably our best spot up shooter when open and set (which isn't what any of us expected from his scouting report). So I can praise him and see his plus side, but he simply isn't a half court player and he isn't smart with the ball. All that would've spelled doom tonight vs. a team that just held us and hacked us. Sorry if you don't like my take, but that's 100 percent the reason he didn't get in and I understand that. With all that said, I'll say again he should've gotten more play tonight though. But I'm not going to pretend he's the missing piece that only casual fans sitting on their couch can figure out and top coaches can't.

I don't mind switching to Evans at PG with 8 seconds left but hiding your PG in the corner for the entire clock seems a little weird. It's like playing 4 on 5. Even worse it seemed like we wanted to go 2 on 5 with Clark and Evans. We have 4 players who can score...we need to use all of them. Even the guy on the bench.

We do this against trash teams?!?! These impressive defensive stats are agains weak opponents. We can’t guard good teams and we’re not gonna score agains equally talented teams.. it blows my mind that we’re watching the same team and some of the things y’all spout off.. unbelievable..

you say stuff like this and its pretty amazing cause you say stuff like broome isn't a team player and is just out to get his own shot.

nobody thinks broome is a super hero. the people that think he should play understand he has weaknesses and know what they are. but he's still the best option for the PG position on this team.

you can run sets where Evans plays PG for the possession if you want a certain look or w/e. or if the offense you wants gets shut down and you need a late in the shot clock shot like you say.

but you can't run that every possession of a game with no movement anywhere else. houston didn't even guard jenifer, his man just sank all the way down to play drives and double the post if we brought one of our post guys out top.

teams often defend us like that, its why broome has to be in.

and before anybody says more crap about cane can't run an offense and can't pass and always turns it over and jenifer is such a great passer and never turns it over.

tell me why in conference play

Jenifer - 20.4 ARate, 18.7 TORate 30 assists 11 turnovers

Broome - 33.4 ARate, 21.5 TORate 36 assists 14 turnovers

I simply don't know what you guys are watching when you watch Broome play. I'm not going to sit and bash him, but as physical as Houston was playing tonight they would've forced Broome to make many mistakes. There's a reason Cronin didn't put the ball in Jenifers hands tonight and he's easily our best protector of the ball. Broome and Jenifer are undersized and Broome is not strong physically. Clark was getting outmuscled, so you think Broome could beat those guys? Broome doesn't know how to reel his game in. He goes at one speed and tries to do stuff he can't at this level. He can get away with it in spurts and vs. bad defenses, but this Houston team tonight would've eaten him alive. And Jenifer plays much better half court defense. Not even close really. Broome is better in the press but you can't press Houston. I'm all for giving him a shot in there to try something different but I just don't get the mentality of Broome being the second coming. With the other four starters he still the fifth best option on the floor and the biggest defensive liability. With the starters playing so much, I'm fine with Jenifer being in there for his defense. And he actually provided some scoring tonight.

What are you watching. Cane has completely reeled his game in. So you are wrong. But as we all do at time you can be wrong, it’s ok.

A team that plays that physical on defense you can't really do anything in the half court against. There's no spacing. You have to speed it up but the flip side of that is you let their offense speed it up and Houston is better than us in the open court. So we needed to be tough and be physical and make tough, contested shots and we didn't. It's our weakness. Tough game and tough loss but at the end of the day I put most of it on Cronin. I don't like Evans pounding the ball and trying to create while the rest of the team watches. Gary tried to create but Gary was getting out muscled. Washington spent too much time on the bench. I actually didn't mind trying Moore out cause he's tough, but offensively he wasn't giving us anything but at least he had length. Jenifer and Broome both were getting scored on being undersized. Bottom line, we didn't pass the ball much tonight and too much dribbling. That starts with Evans running point which was Cronins call and he came up with no other solution. Sure if we made more shots or more free throws ere and there and if we grabbed every rebound and stopped every open look....blah, blah, Cronin speak.... At the end of the day you have to try something different if it's not working and we didnt. We only scored cause the refs DID call fouls on them every possession down the stretch. Just an ugly game and hopefully we don't see another performance like this or another team that is as physical.

I said that about him at the beginning of the year and it was true to an extent. He has gotten better. Part of that is him adjusting and part of that is Cronin taking the ball out of his hands.

I call it like I see it. I saw as recently as the Memphis road game and the home game following that him doing these things I described. Even the UCF game where I sat front row courtside I saw these things. So you can think I'm wrong, I won't lose sleep. I'm critical of Broome cause no one else is. My posts come out like I'm bashing him cause I always point out his weaknesses to refute everyone else who posts how great he is. I could point out any player on this teams weaknesses and sound like I'm bashing him. I like Broome, I'm just not as high on him as most. He has some things he does very well and brings a different dimension no one else does. I do understand why Cronin brings him off the bench and plays Jenifer with the starters and actually agree with it. Next year could be a different story.

Why don’t we have a top 20 offense? Look at Xavier and look at us. They have blueitt, but not exactly like their other players are way better offensively than ours. I love our defense. It’s great but way is offense not better, espeacially this year.

I don't really feel any different about the team.

Just disappointed we lost a chance for a good win.

We win the next 4, we win the conference outright. Sunday is the toughest one.
