Jamaree Strickland transferring

Does anyone know where he is heading? He has hardly played and I was wondering if he just didn't have the talent to compete at this level or if it was his attitude. Either way hopefully he has a successful career elsewhere

Don't know where he is heading but not really that sad about it. He was soft and his skills were lacking. Weird "career" at UC from day 1. I doubt the coaches would have been able to get him playing at a high level. Hopefully the coaches can focus on a skilled big in recruiting. Not sure why it's so hard for us to land a quality big man. There is plenty of opportunity for playing time at center with the Bearcats.

Saw this coming a few weeks ago after a radio show with Mick. With an open scholarship, I'd guess they would look for a 4/5 man...

I think quality big men who actually know how to play like big men have been a dying breed in the high school ranks for years. We have lots of time to find someone though. Good luck to Strickland, I will definitely follow his career just like any of the other guys who haven't made it here. Isn't he originally from CA? Maybe one of those smaller D-1 schools around there would take him.

What a terrible situation. The kid had to sit out the entire season last year without any basketball activity and now he has to transfer. I know Mick is doing what he thinks best for both Jamaree and the university, but I really feel for this guy. Wish him nothing but the best.

I think we have a few quality big men on this team right now. Octavious, Gary Clark, Quandri and Deberry all fit the "quality" category in my eyes.

Wasn't implying we don't have good big guys now. But we could use a good center who has good foot work and post skills I'm the future. Clark and Moore are not post players. Although Clark has done a hell of job on the post so far. Moore has not showed anything to me that says he can post up with his back to the basket.

Also our two down low guys will be gone after one more season. Hence the importance of focusing on recruiting a post guy.

I wish the young man luck. He had some ability to put the ball in the basket, but the effort and dedication it takes to play at this level is something different altogether. Especially when you've had to watch for so long and not be able to get on the court. Good luck Jamaree.

You could be right. After next season both Ellis and CD will be gone. It's going to be interesting to see how they use Scott and Evans and address the 3.

That or Guyn gets redshirted due to injury....

No way Guyn redshirts. It seems he is ready to be done with college as much as most fans. I remember hearing his interviews this year and he openly said he feels as if he has been here for so long.

Yeah, I tend to agree. I think it is interesting how quiet they have been about the seriousness of the injury. They have thrown around the possibility of surgery. Reminds me of the JD3 injury.

Not being stuck with Jamaree's scholarship for 4 years is a really good thing. He's not a DI level athlete.

Tough situation for a kid, but I agree, that's what I've been saying since the season started. I wish him well, unfortunately there were just some things that weren't going to work out here.

If history is any guide Mick and UC will help him find a landing place.
