Two true freshman played large today. Will need them to continue to play tough to have a shot verse Louisville.
Parker as played well in nearly every showing. He shoots decent, defends decent, brings the ball up decent, shoots decent free throws... Why he has not played more is baffling.
Parker impressed me tonight. He is "jittery" when pressure is applied (ball handling, free throws, ball slipping out of his hands when inbounding, etc.), but he impressed the hell out of me.
I've been a critic of Parker, but he was huge tonight. He shot the ball with confidence and tried to make plays. He also busts his ass all the time. For example, he got an offensive rebound off a missed free throw when he used his lower body to push two Rutgers defenders below the hoop and grabbed the long rebound. That brought a gigantic smile to my face. That's ALL EFFORT!
Wow, I love Lance even more now. Read this quote from espn's summary after the game. Now I hope he leads us on a deep run through this tourney. It continues with the Ville tonight!
"I'm just wanting to play hard and win the game, that's all I'm trying to do, win the game. I knew I was going to make the first free throw, I had confidence in myself. I knew I was going to make the first one, so I could miss the second and make it a tougher shot. That was big-time, and that was why I came to Cincinnati, to change the program around and play hard and just win games."

Stephenson ended any thoughts of overtime when he drove to the hoop and was fouled with 1.8 seconds left. He made the first free throw, then intentionally missed the second, not leaving Rutgers with enough time to get off a good shot.
"I learned early in the season against Xavier not to settle for the jump shot, so I did what I did against UConn, went hard and got a foul," Stephenson said of his winning free throws against the Huskies with less than a second left on Dec. 30.
