Maybe I'm off on this. But I thought he was a Sophomore this year assuming he gets his medical redshirt from last year. If that is the case and he gets a waiver to play immediately, he would have the rest of this season as well as two more years of eligibility.

+1. Seems like you're just showing your hate for Chad. Do that elsewhere.

-1. I've been looking for a good resource for UC news for years and it seems like bball.com has the inside scoop. let's get that twitter handle out there.

Well then go and start your own site. The mature and reasonable people on this site always appreciate Chad's insight and information.

I could be wrong but I don't think a hardship waiver would allow you to play right away in the middle of the season. This season would be wasted but he wouldn't have to sit out next year.

Ralph, is that you bud? Did you start UCBearcats and Basketball.com?

I wish JDIII luck in his new adventures. He should get plenty of playing time whenever he is eligible to play. Hope this is a good move for him. I'm just glad we don't have to keep talking about why he isn't playing. So out of our 13 scholarships we now have 10 eligible players.

sorry to say this, but simply refuse to believe he is transferring bc of the fire situation with his family... I believe that this has been building up all year. The unfortunate fire situation may save him sitting out a year.

I would guess considering transferring and the fire made the decision easier.

I believe it may also. He already sat out one year, I am sure that he didn't want to sit another one.

I agree. I think the timing just worked out and maybe the fire happening kind of forced the issue because he went home and got to see and talk to the family and realizing he wasn't happy decided to make the change. I don't begrudge him anything as he is a man and gets to make his own decisions with his life. He obviously wasn't seeing the court here and I don't think that was going to change. He's already 10th or 11th on the depth chart and next year I don't see him being ahead of Morman or anyone else on the roster for that matter. If I had to guess I'd say he just didn't buy into what Mick was preaching and that has stunted his progression. If you read between the lines of the little Mick has said on him you get the impression he wasn't doing what he needed to do. And I know there are always varying factors in players' decision to transfer, but my general opinion on the matter is if you choose to transfer then not only did you quit on your team but you're not a team player to begin with. I don't know if that's the case with Davis and I know that's not the case 100% of the time. Bottom line is if he were good enough to warrant playing time he would've gotten it. If he wants to go somewhere to get more playing time then more power to him. Other than only having 10 eligible players on scholarship this year I don't think Davis will be missed on this team and it's possible even that he was a distraction to the team. When you stop showing up to practice and don't travel with the team then you become a distraction as your teammates not only are missing a body that is supposed to have a role on the team they wonder what is going on and if he's not happy then his negativity can bring others down. I guess it sounds as if I'm dogging him and I don't really mean to be although I'm a realist and it is what is. Again I wish him all the luck in the world and hopefully he is happy at Ball State and sees the court. He freed up a scholarship for us that at this point seemed wasted. With the way our recruiting ability has improved I think that scholarship will go to better use.

What is wrong with you people? GO CATS

Yeah, I gotta say... unless the kid has a major attitude or effort problem, I don't mind him transferring even if it is because of playing time. If I was relegated to playing garbage minutes and could transfer to a smaller school and start... I would do it too. Not selfish at all, in my opinion.

What's wrong with what I said? It's my honest opinion. Davis decided to transfer. He left the team. I'm not going to put him on a pedestal because his family went through a tragedy. Let's be honest here. What is him moving home and living at Ball State going to do to help his family recover from their house burning down? If he quit school and basketball to go get a job to help the family out financially then I would say yes, he's making a tough decision to help his family and I admire him for it. His house burned down, his family lost all their possessions, it sucks. I can't imagine the pain they are going through and hope I never have to experience it, but life will go on, they will find a new place to live and rebuild their lives. That would happen whether Davis was living at UC and playing basketball on scholarship or he is living at Ball State and playing basketball on scholarship. Davis wasn't happy here, he wasn't seeing the court. He decided to move his life and basketball career in a different direction. I don't blame him and I wish him well, but I'm not going to pretend this move in any way helps his family out other than he can pop in and see his family on a daily basis which might boost the family morale. The best thing for his family long-term is for him to get a degree and find a job in the real world. If he thinks that will happen better at Ball State then great.
