He said, last year, that Guyn was the best free throw shooter on the team. However we all know Mick likes to run his mouth at times...
Guyn was a good FT shooter last year. It wouldn't surprise me at all next year to see Guyn,KJ and Caupain on the floor at same time on occasion.

15-18 83 percent. Not to shabby but a small sample. MC is probably also referencing his time observing him at practice.

If Dixon was not a good shooter
If Ge is not a good shooter
Shaq, Sanders etc....

They are all at least 2X the shooter KJ is currently

KJ went like 0-15 from three to start the season (he had some jitters) but since then has gone 3-8 which is 37.5%. He's gone from air balling to more acceptable misses. Clearly a jitter problem and not as much a shooting problem. His stroke is fine....he's gaining confidence...SK is going to need him to knock a few down.

GG and JS are around 30% but seem to be going the other direction.

Thanks for the info. Though many aren't huge jumps and nobody shot over 40%. Parker's is kind of misleading b/c his FT% was terrible his sr year. Cash, 25% as a Frosh, can't get much worse than that, only way to go is up.
Look at the stats as 3 additional years of practice. If that percentage has not increased by shooting 1000's of 3's in practice or on their own, then that practice has been wasted. You can practice something incorrectly and all you're doing is making your technique worse. Some coach who is a shooting coach needs to critique their delivery so they understand exactly what technique is necessary to improve. True in any sport. Baseball, it's coached in the batting cages, golf on the driving range and putting green, etc. But always with an instructor/coach/pro to critique. Everything these days is done with some sort of video which can be replayed repeatedly, slo-mo, etc, and critiqued down to the finest details. That's how you improve. Just standing around the gym jacking up 3's with bad technique will only result in failure to improve. That's why there is a cadre of coaches.

He was a pretty good FT shooter last year. He was never a good outside shooter though and wasn't known for one in HS. Maybe longtimer was thinking of FT's. Mick isn't dumb enough to say Guyn was their best shooter. That's asinine. He's a career 29% from 3 and 37% overall. That aint good.

This post got me thinking. For most of our guards I would rather see them attempt more foul shots than 3 pointers or at least a similar amount. Last year Parker did that but unfortunately stunk last year at FT's.

GG had 38 3's and only 18 FT's. SK had 267 to 145. Cash had 202 to 81. Parker 100 to 144. Sanders 48 to 32.

This year...SK 65 to 49. TC 14 to 33. KJ 19 to 4. JS 23 to 10. GG 26 to 17.

That is a great stat. Thanks for sharing.

TC HAS to play more. We stink on offense. Caupain gets to the foul line and makes over 80% of our shots. That automatically makes him a better option on offense than everyone outside of SK, IMO.
