Larry Davis - retired

Perhaps LD just wants family/leisure time. He saw the rebuild through. Perhaps he just figured, UC basketball is back in the picture nationally-I was a big part of that-now is as good a time as any.

The timing of this makes me think some personal matter had to be the reason. Hope all is ok with him. Davis was a great recruiter for Cronins system and a great #2. With that said, a shakeup in the coaching staff might not be the worst thing in the world. Interesting to see who emerges as a viable replacement. Would like to see someone with ohio/Indiana ties for recruiting purposes. We know Cronin is a my way or the highway kind of control guy so hopefully we get someone who can work with him and bring some new perspective as well.

I'm pretty certain LD got married recently and maybe he wants to slow down the recruiting travel to enjoy his new bride.

I’ve been off the grid for a bit and was surprised to see this news when I got back. The timing is strange and health issues immediately come to mind. I hope to hear some more news as I really hope all is well with LD.

Would it surprise anyone if Cronin hired Rick as an assistant? Some would view it as poor judgement, but I don't think they'd be surprised. He's supported him always.

I have always been a Mick supporter, but I have to admit when he was on medical leave I thought Larry Davis got the kids playing better on offense and generally a more fluid game. He would have been a good head coach at a higher level D1 school.

I'm disappointed to see him leave UC, but I guess after doing anything for 30 years some people want to step back a bit.

Hopefully we get a charismatic recruiter who can be a strong positional coach.

I'd be surprised to see Pitino accept a job as an assistant. Also would be surprised to see Mick even consider it. For the life of me I don't understand why Pitino's name is being mentioned here.

I think the players would play better if they had a few hookers around the program to keep them focused.

Hire 2 pump chump Rick!

Cronin isnt the only familiar face with him, Dr Pinto was president at Louisville Pitino's last year.

Regarding the timing LD retired, thinking back on it, thought it was strange when Savino was promoted to co-assoc HC two weeks after last season, wasn't sure how long UC would have 2 assoc HC's.

Spotted Larry Davis helping instruct at a local AAU program skills/drills camp. Not a surprise, but also don't know what level of involvement he'll have with them.
