Will Larry Davis Return?

Was it Davis that looked at the Montana job last year or was that another assistant (Savino).

Yeah, Davis interviewed for Montana State, I believe. Savino was rumored in a couple of northeast jobs, but can't remember if he interviewed for any.

When I get a call from a job lead I have to hide, duck out in the elevator and step outside the office building, it's another world lol

I certainly hope we can keep Larry. He's done a nice job all around. Hope he gets a nice raise this year. I'd also like to see UC consider hiring Dave Bezold from NKU. He's certainly available, did a nice job of finding talent at NKU and his career was cut short by an overly zealous AD. He would be a nice addition to our staff. Not sure if the NCAA regulates the number of coaches. I can tell everyone that Rick Pitino seems to have a coach for every aspect of the games (looks like 5 or 6 coaches on the sidelines.) Dave Bezold would be a nice addition to the UC staff. Also, another coach with head coaching experience.

Does Dave Bezold have some kind of UC connection or something? Why would we want him on our staff? A fired NKU coach isn't exactly what I'd be hoping for.

Technically teams can only have 3 assistant coaches. Many teams hire additional people and give them other titles. You can hire as many staff members as the budget allows - but only 3 can be called assistant coaches

And if I'm not mistaken, I believe only those 3 assistant coaches and the head coach are allowed to recruit. Other staff members can be involved with practices, strategy, etc. but not recruiting. Please correct me if I am wrong.

He did a really nice job at NKU. He was really good on the D2 level, and then he helped transition the program to D1. It's really hard to recruit when you aren't allowed to play in the postseason in the first two years of transitioning to D1. His teams were pretty competitive and he did the best he could with what he had. Honestly, you could say the same thing about Larry Davis. Why would you want a fired Furman coach? Just because a coach struggles with a low level D1 program doesn't mean they can't be good assistants. Behold knows this area well and it would be a nice addition, even if he doesn't have UC ties.

LD has way more than Furman on his resume. Bezold has only been at the D-1 level for 3 years and has never won. He's also never coached anywhere but NKU. His previous success there at D-2 is nice, but it's small-time. I just don't see this guy taking our recruiting to the next level.
