A lot of hot takes for a first game. Let’s not annoint anyone or write anyone off just yet. No jumping off cliffs or calling final 4.

I was surprised to see Harvey with only 15 minutes especially with Keith out for so long. Davenport really surprised me today. I remember last year the first time he changed a game I thought it was flukey... but he did well tonight for extended minutes.

I'm anointing MAW and writing off Keith as "the guy". Screams Jacob Evans. Good. Has flashes. But no "it"

I thought Harvey was our 2nd best player Tonight, beside maw. He looked smooth, aggressive, and played hard. Didn’t understand why he didn’t play more.

If they can improve considerably at passing, shooting, and playing defense, they have a real shot at finishing in the middle of the pack in the AAC

Thought Vogt and dd played way too much. Vogt was bad for 20 minutes, great for 5 minutes. Dou looked lost, which is disappointing. Kieth wasn’t great. Maw and Harvey looked really good. Not sure why Harvey didn’t get more minutes. Rap looked good.
Vogt stood around on defense and watched until the end. Very disappointed and fearful when he has to guard a strong/quick player

Fixed that for you.

And good thing too. We couldn't really get Vogt the ball vs their zone, so he just made it happen on the offensive glass.

Guarded their best player and that guy went 4-11 with 8 points and 7 turnovers.

others got right to the basket as Vogt didn't help but just watched.

no spot for him. who are you benching, DeJulius, KW, or MAW.

I thought Harvey would play more this year over MAW, then the offseason injury set him back. Also I didn't expect MAW to be the best player on the floor.

We have played 1 game. Let’s see a few before we set the rotation for good. Not sure MAW and Davenport will end up our MVPs.

But if they do...oh boy...we should have a great team!

Vogt stood around all night and watched on both ends yet finished 2nd in points, shut down his man (who happened to be their best player), and led the team in rebounds and blocks.

Imagine if he didn't just stand around.

MAW had a great game but I doubt he finishes in the top 3 in scoring on the season. But no way was he gonna get pulled tonight.

The problem for us and the way the team is built, the wings are basically all the same player. Slashers from the wing that can't shoot. We are gonna see a lot of zone this year.

Can’t blame Vogt for being 7’1” with knobby knees. There are bigs who can dribble a circle around him but end up getting blocked. Dou looked like he was just starting again. What’s the alternative to Vogt?

I actually have to disagree with this.

Evans and Keith were both talented wings that didn't always take initiative when they should've, but Evans definitely had the "it" factor. His game was always smooth. He was being scouted for the NBA as early as halfway through his freshman year. He just played on teams that didn't need the same player to be the "alpha" every night.

I don't doubt that he could've been a 16-18 ppg guy if the team needed him to be, but that wasn't the case while he was here.

This year's team will likely need Keith to successfully fill that "alpha" role if we're going to remain a contender for the top of the AAC.

Hopefully Keith can better establish himself on Sunday.

Yah we will probably see a lot of zone but MAW, Keith, and Harvey aren’t horrible shooters by stat. And we picked up Dejulius and Madsens. Tonight was awful but let’s wait just a bit

Well tonight Keith was terrible and in foul trouble. Harvey could have took some of his minutes. DeJulius also didn’t do anything for the first 30 minutes of the game. Could have had some of those minutes also. If someone is playing well, you find minutes for them. It’s really not that hard.

I’m a Vogt guy, but he didn’t do anything for much of the game. Great don’t the stretch, but borderline awful until then

I agree. We have ok shooting. It was just an off night.

Big question on Harvey. I hope it’s because of injury that he was limited. Keith played only 22 minutes and we basically had a 5 man rotation. If Keith plays 30 minutes does Harvey play only 7? And who thought Davenport would be the 6th or 7th man?

Nobody else was a factor for serious rotation minutes

I want the cats to do well and so they need a very active defensive big as Tre Scott isn't coming back. I will hold further comment until I see the X and UT games.
