Anyone else go down to this? It was kind of lame, especially with the rain where the players could only take jump shots. The court looked really cool and for the few hundred that were down there it was very easy to access the several players that showed up and Cronin. I did score a free t-shirt (and not one with a stupid sponsor on it) and a poster that I got autographed by all the players who showed up. Kilpatrick, Jackson, Davis, Sanders, Shaq and Gelawn were all there. The rest Mick said were in class. Mick did say that for the first preseason game he will press for 40 minutes. That we had the bodies to do it now. When I talked to him at the tail end of the event I told him I was excited to see the freshman play and he said yeah we have some talent and they are going to have to play defense, which we of course have heard before. That was it, nothing earth-shattering. I did joke with the women's coach. I guess she's won six national titles with UConn as either a player or an assistant. As she was leaving I asked her why she wasn't wearing her six title rings and she laughed and said I'd have to come to her office where she has them on display. Oh and icing on the cake, when I got home, my season tickets had arrived in the mail!!

Well glad at least one person could make it down there! I like the idea and perhaps the weather kept most people away. Not having most the players there is strange, but freshman don't really have the first choice in class times

Lawrence and Caupain posted pictures of themselves signing autographs so they must have shown up after I left. I'm sure they would have had a dunk contest or something if the court wasn't wet

Everyone made it down. The second wave of guys included the freshman, Rubles, and Nyrasuk. It was a great idea, unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate. I imagine they had more on court things planned without the rain. Fun to see all the players and glad they all made it down.

I agree, hopefully this becomes a yearly thing. If we aren't going to have the fanbase for a sold out midnight madness then this is the next best thing.

I would have gone if I didn't work 7:30-4 M-F. I went to the "Midnight Madness" (that was at like 7pm) a couple years ago at 5/3 and got all the autographs, even Stephenson was there and signed my basketball. I love these events. Very personal and fun. Really cool idea this year, I just wish it would've worked more for someone of a traditional 9-5 schedule. Maybe early evening? The area is already lit up isn't it? Even a Saturday would be cool. I dunno. Sucks it rained but it still looked fun.
