They are currently 109 in the RPI at 8-3 (they have 2 DII wins). Their losses were to Florida (by 20), Mississippi (by 9), and Belmont (by 12). They have transitioned from the Sun Belt to Conference USA where they are expected to compete with our old buddy UNC-Charlotte for the title (there was not a pre-season poll in C-USA this year). Last year they made the NCAA tournament as an at-large and lost to Boise State in the "First Four."

Their leading scoring is Shawn Jones who is a 6-8 senior averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds a game, the second leading scorer is a 6-7 senior Neiko Hunter who averages 13 and 5. Good match up for Rubles and Jackson inside.

They have 9 guys that play at least 15 minutes a game, and are lead mostly by juniors and seniors.

Overall it should be decent test for UC after the win at MSG.

I'll say UC 70, MTSU 58.

After scoring 54, 47, and 44 against good teams, I don't have enough faith in the offense to predict anything near 70 points. I'm going to go Cincinnati 61, MTS 53.

I hope we play an entertaining game. I am bringing my mom who hasn't been to a UC game is over 8 years since she moved. She loves her Bearcats and I asked her the prediction. She said who is Middle Tennessee State?! lol

UC-73
MTS- 64

I know they aren't a sexy name but MTSU is a pretty good team, I mean they made the tournament as an at-large last year. It will end up being a good RPI game.

UC 70-56. I think Mick will have them ready for this one, and there truly is no place like home.

Middle Tennessee St doesn't play defense nearly as well as Pitt, X, or New Mexico. We should score at least 70, but you never know with this team.

They are statistically better than New Mexico in defensive efficiency (121 vs 130). I would equate them to a mid major version of Pittsburgh. They rebound the ball very well and are pretty physically imposing in the front court. In offensive efficiency they are about as good (or bad) as Cincinnati. They don't pass as well as Pitt...

This could turn out to be a nice Win if cats come out and play hard. MTS is far from a push over. Hope the Cats realize that and come out with the same intensity they had against Pitt.

Would also like to see Lawrence take another step forward. If we can get some consistent play from him going forward it would make a huge difference in our offense efficiency.

Watching Belmont vs Kentucky at Rupp. Belmont who has played MTS is giving Wildcats all the can handle. Again hope the Cats don't come out half stepping.

UC is #2 in forcing turnovers at 26.9% of possessions. Middle Tenn state is bad at committing turnovers at almost 20% of possessions good for 236 in the country. Hopefully UC can get a lot of live ball turnovers and generate some easy looks bc we need them badly with the way we shoot.

Middle Tenn. is horrible against the press. They are a better team than they look, but they are playing right in to our hands.

Guyn is a terrible offensive player. He got double teamed out top and didn't even look towards the basket. Then he tries to dribble through it and turns the ball over. I don't know if I've ever seen a point guard that has worse court vision.

Caupain has to start playing 30 minutes a game IMO.
