First off...you alienate the conference you are in and compromise its future in case you get stuck there. Secondly, you have played all your cards...the acc knows we we r always there as an option begging to get in

The ACC knows we are always there just like the Big 12 knows UL is always there?

Do you think the Big 12 didn't know there was interest in UL from the ACC until the announcement? How about vice versa? It doesn't take a public proclamation. If the rumors can make it to these boards...you can bet your ass that those who are paid to know this stuff knew it a long time ago before it went public.

UC and UL were involved in HEAVY rumors with the Big 12 before these latest events and everyone knew it without a public proclamation. Word gets around. But by keeping it private it can be denied very easily by the university so that they don't alienate the conference or new teams coming in case we were unfortunate enough to get stuck there.

I am not saying that keeping it private would have saved the conference...but it just may have been enough to keep a few of them interested. Probably not Boise...but maybe teams like Houston or UCF etc. You don't decide to jump ship if you are not entirely sure the ship will go totally under...especially when you are not sure there is another ship to save you. You try to save the ship you are on until the other ship arrives. That's my opinion anyway...I don't know the answer...I hope I am wrong.
