Name the new conference

As a solid program, we will still get in early season tournaments like the Jimmy V Classic. We will still have random opponents like New Mexico mixed in along with Xavier. The OOC will always be weak. Hell, this year was considered solid and the OOC SOS is ranked 172. But until we get in a new conference, we will just have to take care of business against lesser opponents.

Take it for what its worth (unfounded grumblings around both programs I've heard) but I would be very surprised if the Crosstown Shootout continues after this year. The problems still have not been worked out. Xavier wants to play at Cintas and 5/3, UC does not. Neither really like the US Bank arrangement at all

Regardless, UC's OOC schedule needs to be ramped up.

I like the America 12 name also. UC fans need to embrace the new conference. With UC, UConn, Memphis, and Temple it is going to be a great one basketball wise.

Aren't you one of the those complaining about how bad C-USA was? So now that Coach is at the helm, you are ok with that level of play? I do not care where they land. I will still support them, just do not like hypocrites.

The Memphis area is a hotbed for recruiting and they are able to keep alot of kids home with their continued success. The south is a little different than the rest of the country. People from the south really don't want to leave. Granted alot of kids want to stay close to home but southern culture as a whole goes even further that people don't ever want to leave the south. The SEC is weak other than UK and Florida who can bring in recruits from anywhere. Tennesee and Arkansas get their fair share of talent from Memphis as well. Simply said, Memphis is a destination school for kids in that area.

X being in a better conference than UC could change UC's view as to their willingness to go to Cintas.

I'm not sure why that would change anything.

Beggers can't be choosers. X is a quality non-conference opponent and doesn't cost them any $, in fact it's a guaranteed money maker. With a less quality conference slate (and quite possibly a normal 16-game conference slate as opposed to the 18 the Big East brings which means two more games to fill and pay for) they will need to field tougher competition in the non-conference slate. UC has less leverage in negotiations with X now that X is in a better basketball conference than they are and not continuing the game at all I don't believe is a smart decision or one UC is in a position to make.

The C7 is not a better conference than the America 12.

That's debateable, but the disparity between the Big East of today and the A-10 of today will not compare to the America 12 and the Big East of tomorrow. They are essentially on a level playing field in terms of conference power and my opinion is the Big East will not only be slightly better but it will carry more weight in the public and media spotlight.

Just the opposite.

I know you like to speak in generalities and never give much depth to defend your comments, but please indulge me in how the America 12 will be much stronger than the new Big East.

They will be more or less equal, neither is really better than the other. Both are mid major conferences.

The Power 5 Conferences will continue to dominate college basketball. Since the BCS started in 1998 only BCS schools have won the NCAA tournament.

It means not being scared to play on someone else's campus.

Scared has nothing to do with anything, no one is scared to play anywhere.

It is money, UC needs it. UC is losing $2million to $3million a year in TV revenue. You make money from home games, not from road games. UC sells season ticket packages for 20 home games, including 2 exhibitions. The people who buy the season tickets may not go the Savannah State game but they paid the $28 for the ticket.

20 home games minus 2 exhibition games leaves 18 home games to schedule. 9 will be Big East/America 12 home games 9 conference road games.

There are typically 13 nonconference games on the schedule. 9 of these must be at home to get to the 20 home games for season ticket sales. Only 4OOC games can be on the road. 1 of the 4 is at US Bank Arena with XU. One other game for next year is visiting New Mexico. One other supposedly is a Jimmy V Classic game. Therefore, UC has only one road game left to schedule for next season.
