In a position to allow UC to make the tournament this year. They would not have made it in the ACC, B12, etc.

Yeah, because UC never made it while in the real Big East, and never beat Syracuse in the tournament, and never outright owned Villanova, Providence, or Georgetown. C'mon.

@JonRothstein
Villanova was the best team in the Big East. NC State was one of many quality teams in the ACC. Leagues on different levels nationally.

Truth be told.

Tough day, yesterday, for the Big East, but it's still, top-to-bottom, a legit conference. ACC is definitely better at the top, but you really get zero off days in the Big East; e.g., can you imagine @Marquette or @Creighton as your easy game, they were the bottom feeders this year. Big East outperforms ACC in non-conference, and that's a larger sample size than the NCAA tournament.

We all know NC State is one of those under-achieving teams with the talent to beat anyone in the country, outside of Lexington. Is the Big 12 over-rated with two three seeds dropping? Is the Pac-10 that much better? I think the sample size is too small to read too much into these things, although, I will agree that at the top, the talent in the ACC is the best. I just think you get more easier games in the ACC than in the Big 12 or Big East, which is reflective in conference RPI.

Pat Connaughton received $400,000 signing bonus with the Baltimore O's. Can someone explain why that doesn't effect his eligibility in bball? Just curious if it would or not.

You only have to remain amature in the sport you're playing as an amateur. So going pro in baseball does not affect other sports, ala Russell wilson, brandon weehdon, etc..

You mean the AAC that has won the last two NCAA championships?

AAC is a bad conference, worse than Conference USA in its hey day. But, as bad as it is, AAC is good for UC right now. That three-game stretch against 200+ RPI teams (Houston, UCF, and Tulane) really saved the season. Got our confidence back.

I will give Cronin credit in that he is a scheduling guru. When UC was in the Big East, and he was scheduling all those patsies non-conference, we needed to get 12-13 wins non-conference. The Big East, by itself would take care of RPI, but we might only win nine games. We needed wins non-conference. This year, we learned if the non-conference schedule is tough, we should be okay, as long as we take care of business in-conference.

Problem is, if we were in the ACC, we would be perennially stuck in "rock fight" mode, without better recruiting, because the talent is so good. In the AAC, we can begin to develop a style that is more appeasing to NBA prospects. I think "big fish, small pond" is a better place to be right now, but you better own that small pond. My thinking on this issue changed this season.

Recruits want exposure. The AAC and U.C. cant offer that.

I agree with some of your points. I'm not sure the AAC is much different than CUSA or the Great Midwest. However, UC isn't renovating Nippert and 5/3 to be the premier AAC school. They've made no secret that when conference realignment happens now or 10 years from now they are going all in to get there. If our previous PresidentPresident who didn't clearly didn't know what the eff he was doing when in came to conferences (and seemingly many other things since he was asked to leave), we might already be gone. Currently our conference brand won't win us the benefit if the doubt when it comes to tourney selection and seeding. Mick adjusted by making the OOC schedule tougher which was the opposite of our Big East strategy -like you mentioned. Thus far it had worked. How we competed in the old Big East shows me that Mick could compete in the ACC.

Gonzaga, Huggs in the Great Midwest, Memphis with Cal in CUSA... if UC is dominating the AAC, they'll get enough exposure. You're not going to catch Duke, UNC, Louisville, etc. by attacking them directly. Think Sam Walton v. Sears... You need to win conference championships, tourneys on a routine basis.

But we aren't the gonzaga of the AAC other schools in conference pull better classes than we do. Granted, they may not make the ncaa every year due to rebuilding but at least when they do they can compete.

Have you seen the ratings for For sports one. Pretty soon the Big East won't offer that either.

The BE has the worst ratings. Least the AAC has ESPN. Their exposure is fine for now. Like another guy mentioned, while being in the AAC, we have to win championships.

T.c. is a three star, and there is only 1 4 star next year. Jennifer is a 3.

And how well did clark do sat?

I went by the ESPN recruiting stars for next year. On the whole Clark had a great freshman year. If your basis of comparison is a one game sample size versus KY, you will never be happy.
