uhhhh, what?!? You do realize Duke had 8 scholarship players on their team in which every single one of them was a McDonald's All-American?

Also, LSU just happened to get a commit from the #1 player in the country, the only reason they'd have a better class than Duke.

Dukes class that are all freshman now was amazing...4 commits 4 five stars that's not bad

Watching that game last night the one thing you noticed is that the offenses were constantly trying to put pressure on the defense and were going towards the basket. Great game to watch.

And all were McDonald's All-Americans.

Jennifer may end up being awesome, but comparing him to Duke's players does him an injustice. Also, UC still needs shooters and I'm not sure if that will change next year..

Caupain already shoots as well as almost anyone on Duke's team - he has a higher shooting % overall and from 3 than Tyus Jones...Winslow shoots 3's only 1% better than Troy, & he's the only player Duke has that shoots as high as Caupain from 3. Problem is, UC has only one guy who can do that...Duke has a bunch of guys that shoot pretty well.

p.s. Thank you Duke, for winning me money....I'm back to hating you now.

And LSU are also favorites to grab 2-3 more top 50-75 players. The McDonalds all american tag is becoming more and more overrated. Michigan State and Wisconsin didnt seem to need them. And I should have been more specific in my previous post which is my bad. What I was getting at is Coach K doesn't normally sign one and done guys until maybe the last 2-3 years. So to say money bought that championship was simply misguided.

Fact is the players with the most pub on the AAU circuit make the McDAA game. It trickles down to who gets what offers and rankings as well. I.e. Gary Clark vs Theo Pinson

More and more overrated? The teams that had the most of them just won the championship and the other lost in the final 4. Though I agree, I don't think Coach K is paying players. But he also isn't turning crap into diamonds.

Some of the players are deserving but looking back now do we really believe Jefferson and Plumlee were MCDAA caliber.

A lot of the hype comes from where these kids commit. The fact is, unless you are a can't miss top 10 player in the class, if you commit to Duke, Kentucky, etc, you will have a better chance to be a McDonald's AA.

Maybe, but it's hard to argue that the McDAA's are generally the top players in the class. There will always be busts and players that some misjudge, but by and large those are the best players.

it's all about finding right program that fit your style and where it's family environment. So many players just Chase the scenery of campus and money. I don't understand guys that go to school hundreds of miles away from family and they don't have resources to come see you play. Every player wants their family at games. Moore looked like he hadn't seen family since summer time.

At the same time some players need to get away from their home environment. And I think some coaches don't want to deal with the headaches of having kids families and entourages for lack of a better word hanging around all the time.

Yes it is. Helps big time if family has resources to attend games. Entourages and family was their before the coach so I don't believe that theory.

Coaches believe they have more control over a kid when he's on campus. I think it goes both ways, a guy like kj with a good head on his shoulders and good family isn't going to be a troublemaker (knock on wood). A guy like Lance needed to get out of nyc. A guy like behanon, his own mom got him out of town in high school to try and steer him from trouble. Mick typically and hopefully going forward keeps recruiting guys from good families and good backgrounds, but realistically if a guy wants to get in trouble he will find it or allow trouble to find him. I do agree that it is nice to have local talent want to come here and wish we could get it. For a guy like Kennard to not even consider uc is troubling in my opinion.

And more to the point, yes families and entourages were there before coach, but if those families and entourages are going to hurt or distract a players development then yes he's better served going far away. It depends on each individual player.
