Yeah after 5 straight Finals 4s and 2 straight titles, shit finally happened in the closing seconds of a 3rd straight title attempt.

7 out of 8 years not even making it to the second weekend and blowing the easiest path to the Final 4 of all time in spectacular, historic fashion. Shit happens.

It's amazing the lengths some go to ensure that the guy getting paid millions to run the whole thing gets no blame at all for what happens year after year. You act as if it is all coincidence and luck. Brad Stevens...REALLY lucky. Mick Cronin...REALLY unlucky. That's the only difference.

Nevermind that the only constant in the 7 of 8 years trend is the coaching staff. That has nothing to do with it.

Jake from a personal standpoint I could careless if they fire Mick. Have never met him. My issue is I have no desire to risk what we have unless I'm certain we can improve our results. With the structure we are facing in the college game it would not be easy to find someone who competes for league championships and makes the tourney. These guys don't grow on trees. Again I lived through the Yates years. That is my apprehension. I enjoy winning 30 games a year, having good student athletes. Sure I'd like to advance in the NCAA more and I hope it happens but I also would not like to go on a Memphis or UCONN run in a effort to find out. Cutting ties with a guy who has delivered the results Mick has and replacing him is no slam dunk.especialyy what I have seen from this administration.

I am far from a Mick shield. Give me a better option and I'll sign up but if your wrong I won't buy another ticket to support this program. We are stuck in a shit conferenc, their handling of the Huggins fiasco, the Tubberville hire and others. I never attended the school and my support is they represent the city I was born and raised in. Whatever they do they better get it right.

Agree with this whole thing. People can’t cry about the playing field being unfair when we have seen teams advance in weaker conferences. Butler, Wichita, gonzaga..etc.,, Is it rare, yes, but no one is expecting it every year. I have not heard one person say we should go to the final 4 every year, or even sweet 16. Also you can’t be unlucky, 12 out of 13 years. At some point you have to look in the mirror and change something

I'm good with making a change but it better be for the good or I'm gone. Ain't trying to hear well we tried. anyone they bring in better be a improvement.

I’m not even saying make a change, but the people that defend Cronin at every turn are annoying. He does well. He is a great defensive coach and good at finding talent but he has weakness also. I would say recruiting top talent, teaching offense, and public relations are among them. Also winning in the tournament. Like it or not that’s a big part of college b-ball.

Also, I don’t understand the thinking of not making a change because it could go bad. Whenever a change is made in anything. There are examples going bad and good. You shouldn’t operate out of fear of something not going well. Pitt didn’t go well along with many other jobs but look at Xavier and butler. They have had multiple changes and have been alright.

C'mon buddy. We can't have an honest convo when you say things like that. You are the #1 Mick Shield in the entire fan base.

I want our 4 years guys to play in the second weekend at least once. But the 2012, 2013, and 2014 high school classes came and went on to graduate with no second weekend appearances between them. 6 years in a row overall. 4 of the years with losses to the A-10, Ivy League, Mountain West, and Missouri Valley. No matter how you feel about the coach, you can't possibly call this good enough.

Jake please! When did you become a fan? I lived through the garbage that Yates put out. Perhaps if you had you may be a bit apprehensive about coaching changes.i have know desire to go back to those days. Again I'm 64 years old. I don't want to waste a good amount time of what I have left watching a loser program

I'm not saying change the coach.

Amd I started watching games in 90-91 when I was 3.

Coaching changes sometimes are the solution but many times it prolongs the agony. Some schools have lots of success with it. Xavier is one that comes to mind. Again my concern is teams that win at our level and qualify for the tourney are not the norm. Things could be much worse. I have seen it. Please do not take this as me saying I'm supporting a inferior product. I'm not and I do want more. But I want it done right and quite honestly there are many factors associated with getting it right in today's game. We are relevant not in spite of Cronin but in large part because of him. Maybe not to the extent many would want but we are relevant in a very tough competitive environment that has the deck stacked against us.

I guess what I'm saying is if your going to change coaches you better get it right. The guy who replaces him has got a fan base with lofty expectations and the guy he replaced set the bar high.

EXpectations should be high. They should be high at any top program. We want respect and to be treated like a top pragram but we don’t want the expectoration that comes with it

If dan Hurley has the exact same next 7 years at UConn as Cronin did the last 7, does he still have a job? I honestly don’t know

Dude uconn dealt with Ollie losing far longer than they should have, if hurley comes in and makes the tourney 7 straight years I guarantee he still has a job.

I have a hypothetical.

Say Cronin is mediocre in the NCAA tourney for 5-8 more years, but being the younger experienced coach that he is, he finally gets it right after those 5-8 years and goes 20 years of good NCAA tourney success, (tourney every year almost guaranteed, second weekend 1 out of every 3 years, with an elite 8 every 5 and final 4 every 6-8) would u sign up right now?

No, I'd rather be right than good.

How old is he in this? He has to be pushing 80 in this. I would trade a couple more years for 20 years of elite status. Not sure I would go 5-8 more years.

Refs are having their influencing the Villinova game on behalf of the higher seed as usual. I think the officiating in this tournament is suspect.
