NCAA TOURNAMENT

As long as we are stuck with a 7 seed (and it is unfortunate the AAC tourney doesn't finish on Saturday), this is the best 7 seed to get. MSU, UM, and UK would all worry me more as a 2 seed, and Iowa has been a hot mess of late. As things go, it could be worse.

Michigan State has the most room to complain. Deserved a 1 seed, got a 2 in Duke's region. Meanwhile a team they beat 3 times got a 2 in Gonzaga's region. That is some horseshit, and I despise MSU.

Michigan State shouldn’t have even won today, refs blew that late call. Shoulda been 3 shots for Michigan, they definitely did not deserve to be a 1 over anybody that is

Well this is nice since for the last 20+ years friends and family pick a site and go every year. Ended up in Columbus. Under seeded 7 for sure but close to home is nice. Go Bearcats

Well that’s a matter of opinion. Their resume is good.

Tennessee looked VERY BAD today, proved what a tight defense can do to them. They were making unforced errors all over the place after they were rattled. Not happy with the seeding, but I’ll take the shot. Gotta get by Iowa first

Kentucky is a good defensive team and they handled them pretty well

That just shows the bracket was basically already done and conference championships don’t mean anything. Michigan St and UC didn't move their lines at all for winning the Conference title game. BS

2 underseeded teams goin at it then. If people thought too many Cincy fans were critical of Cronin, that's nothing compared to how many want Fran McCaffrey gone at Iowa lol

This is true. I lived in Iowa city for 7 years and still have friends there. It’s all they talk about.

They still beat Michigan 3 times, and wound up in a worse position - #2 in a region with Duke, vs being #2 in a region where the number 1 couldn't even win its shitty conference's tournament.

MSU deserves a #1 all day long over Gonzaga, who basically get a bye starting in mid-December.

This.

And it’s compete bullshit. They need to admit it’s bullshit.

Tennessee can spread teams out that is a problem for us

Tennessee is definitely superior to us. They also had the 2nd worst 3p% and took the second-fewest threes among the #2 seeds (despite being easily the fastest pace of the 4 teams). Being a 7-seed means being a considerable underdog if you make the 2nd round. All in all, I still prefer UT to the other 3.

Also of note, Rick Barnes hasn't gotten past the round of 32 in his last 10 seasons as a head coach. Even Mick has done it more recently.

I don't expect to win, but i wouldn't expect to beat any of the 2 seeds. A 6 seed would have made a huge difference, but alas.

It isn't great, although on the other hand I look at the 6 seeds and its not like any one of them is clearly inferior to us. You could make a case with each one, but I don't think we would be favorites against any of them on a neutral floor.

Interesting that Auburn beat UT twice, scored 84 in both games, and more than anything won by forcing UT into mistakes - +18 in turnover margin. Tennessee actually outshot Auburn in both games - hell they hit 53% from deep today and lost by 20.

In their 3 games against UK, Tennessee only turned it over 20 times total (and went 2-1).

ESPN showed a 12:15pm tip on Friday. Can't find that anywhere else though.

Edit: It's on the NCAA website now.

Wouldn't be a tournament without a UC under seeding. **** it, let's see what happens. Tennessee possibly in the second round really sucks to swallow though. Hope you Ohioans get your asses out there!

We got a 2 seed last year.

I don't think we're underseeded. Our resume plus metrics fit right in with the other 7 seeds. We have by far the lowest Kenpom ranking of any 7 or better seed. That cancels out our slightly better quadrant records.

I would much rather play Iowa in Columbus than St Mary's in Hartford. Kansas St has to play UC Irvine in California. Wisconsin has to play Oregon in California. Auburn has to play New Mexico St in Utah. Florida St has to play Vermont in Connecticut. All of those teams have bigger gripes than us.

exactly this. there is nothing about our resume that suggests we are underseeded and we are right where everybody thought we'd be. i'm really not sure what everybody is upset about. I was hoping for a 6, but when I saw that 7 seed in Columbus I was almost certain our name was going to pop up.
