Hi all,

I am a big college basketball fan who has taken on an AAC basketball blog. I have reached out to beat writers from AAC schools, but have not heard back from a Cincy writer yet. I am trying to write a preview post on each school now. Would anyone from here be willing to talk about the team and answer some questions via email?

You can see the first preview post (Tulsa) right here: http://americanathleticbasketballblog.wordpress.com/

Any thoughts/comments on the first post would be great as well, as it will go a long way towards making the future posts even better!

Thanks everyone! Good luck this season!

Feel free to email me at [email protected] with any feedback or if you would like to discuss Cincy basketball for the blog!

Thanks,
Jared

Thanks, the Cincy post will be up tonight. Thanks to all from the board who emailed over some feedback. Should be a great post tonight!

Would depend on non-conference performance I think. UConn did go 12-6 in conference last year, so don't think the 11-7 record would be automatic disqualifier

Just given what I see in this team, it will take us a while to get into gear so the OOC part could be rough given we've got games @Nebraska, @NC State, San Diego State, VCU and Xavier. There aren't enough good teams in the AAC (minus Louisville) for 7 losses to get us in...it would mean we either lost most of the quality win opportunities or suffered a bunch of bad losses.

I agree with your prediction. I see 3 OOC losses and 5 conference losses. I never predict postseason results since it is based on match ups.

I think the season sets up for a fast start, a very rough middle section, and a strong finish.

Our first 4 games should all be wins. Then we have the Emerald Coast Classic, which will be tougher, but winnable. After that, we play Stony Brook. So a 7-0 start is not at all unlikely.

But then we play at Nebraska and host San Diego State and VCU in games 8-10. I could see us losing all 3 of those games. To be honest, if we win one of them and are 8-2, I will be very happy considering the inexperience of this squad early on.

Continuing, Wagner is one of the better mid-major teams we will play, and we have to go on the road to play North Carolina State. Those last 5 games before conference play will be brutal.

Our first 10 conference games, we have UConn twice, SMU twice, Memphis once, Temple once, and Houston once. But in our last 8 conference games, our toughest game is Memphis at home. So if we can win the Crosstown Shootout, we could go on a nice winning streak to end the season.

I am going to predict 9-4 out of conference, 13-5 in conference for a record of 22-9. I think we'll get in the tournament based on a solid RPI and be able to get the 1-2 out of conference wins we need for our resume.

I'm going with 10-3 out of conference and 14-4 in the AAC for a 24-7 regular season with another AAC title. Mick is a good coach. That outweighs inexperience in my mind. This team has tons of talent.

Nice breakdown Robert. I agree with you especially your first statement. Surely seems like a very possible outcome too!
