that off ball foul was cane's fault for moving before the screen got to him.

if we want to blame mick for a lack of talent through recruiting, that's fair. moore and williams look like trash, and our bigs are brutal.

i don't know what kind of sets people are expecting on offense. the guys are put in a position to make plays. if they can't make plays, that's on the players. we got basically 0 penetration off the dribble into the paint in the first half. you can't coach penetration - do we want to dump it into the foul line to the scotts of the world?

Cronin has called Moore the best pure shooter he has recruited in 12 years as UC head coach.

You can’t be a D1 coach and put these lineups on the floor and expect to win.

Can't agree more. Amazing that they had so many minutes free up with Clark, Washington, and Evans moving on and Mick couldn't land any big time players on the front line who have offensive skills.

A former UC player and coach told me during the AAc tourney last year in Orlando that Nysier Brooks would be in the NBA. I asked him if he was smoking crack. He misses more two foot shots than any player I have ever seen. And tonight he was rejected by the rim. He can't throw it into the ocean. Why hasn't he developed at all since he has been at UC?

Maybe the worst offensive team I have ever seen and definite Mick’s worst team. I put the over / under on wins at 10 games and I think that might be generous.

Very tough game to watch. Cumberland picking up his first foul away from the ball with less the 20 seconds gone in the game was a omen. His second foul was trying to stick his leg out while attempting to set a screen way far away from the basket. He has to be smarter then that. Broome was 1-10 from the field and to put his lack of defense in perspective didn't have a deflection in 28 minutes of action. Scott and Brooks for most of the evening looked hesitant and nervous. As many have pointed out Williams and Moore both look like complete swing and misses. We shot 27% from the field and 26% from 3 point range.

Really believe this is the end of our tourney run. Other then Cumberland who's game is limited as well in areas I don't see a lot of difference making talent. We have a team of role players. I hope I am wrong and some can elevate their games. My prediction is this will be a very long season. Hope I am wrong!!

Oh and while your pondering how poor Cronin's offense is we were 5-21 on lay ups in the game ncluding a missed dunk. If you want to criticize him for recruiting be my guest but his bad offensive strategy would not be nearly as glaring if our players could make bunnies.

Let me get this straight, you’re defending cronin”s offense? Ok. If you get and play players that can’t score, you can’t expect them to magically start scoring.

i'm sure he was trying to keep cumberland from picking up a second cheap foul. i don't think it's smart.

and with the lack of offensive playmakers on this team, i really don't think we can afford to put cumberland on the bench with 2 first half fouls. if he picks up a 3rd in the first half, so be it - we lost this game in the first half with our best player on the bench.
Best point I have read on the board tonight.

How many years have we had our bigs not be able to make 2ft shots? Outside of Clark, Washinton, and maybe Gates this has been a problem in Micks entire tenure here.

Then that is a recruiting issue not offensive game planning.

No it's not. Those "layups" were from a lot of offensive rebounds...which is great except we missed a lot of jumpers to get those offensive rebounds BECAUSE the offense sucks so bad all we can get are jumpers from the sets.

He picked up two very avoidable fouls. He fouled out in the Nevada game after lobbying Mick to leave him in the game. If I was Coach he would have sat the last 10 minutes last night as well. His fouls were of the dumbest variety. Also we were down 10 points at half. Hardly insurmountable.

You still have to make those shots. How about the missed dunk. We shot 27 % overall. That is horrible. We made 9 points off second chances.

While I believe this is going to be a frustrating and disappointing season there are a couple of things I am not going to over react about. Cane had an off night. He is going to make more of his shots in the future obviously and he is 1 of 2 players who can create a shot if necessary. I hope we can maybe add a 3rd in Johnson. From an ability standpoint he is clearly better than Jenifer...we will have to see how quickly he picks up the system and being where he is supposed to be.

I also am not going to write off Moore as a shooter. By almost every account he is the best outside shooter on the team so it just needs to start translating to games. Could be jitters. Could be that he is hurrying. I don't know but he can shoot the ball.

While I do believe our bigs can play a little better I am not expecting any drastic changes there. I don't know how we can play them for 67 minutes and expect to keep up on offense.
