Aside from being undefeated (which I like, regardless of schedule), is that the team has a real good mixture of veterans and 'young-ins'. Nothing pushes a veteran more than a rookie who leaves it all on the court. Just makes him look bad by not giving total effort (see Yancy).

I do think this bodes well for the future. Regardless of what happens in BE play, this early stretch (along with getting JK) will give MC enough bullets to keep his job and build this maligned program.

The time is now, and I'm having a good time (finally).

From Lance's blog...

An emailer last night indicated to wake him up come March because the non conference schedule is a joke.
I get the biggest kick out of two groups of people.
1. The Hugg-o-file UC fan that can't move on and can't stand that UC is winning.
2. The UC fan unwilling to enjoy the moment.

He is correct. Enjoy the moment. We've struggled for years to beat the teams that UC is now beating down. Hell, Dayton is a perennially tough team for most and they got taken to the woodshed. This team has not played a top opponent, but it sure as heck doesn't mean they aren't good..nor does it mean the fans should not enjoy this season.

I agree, having that mix of upperclassmen and freshmen/sophomores is huge. And while I'm excited for this year, I am pumped for next year because we will have the same situation.

Seniors - Dion and Yancy (assuming he stays)
Juniors - Parker and Cash (who will be in his fourth year with the program)
Sophomores - Jackson and Kilpatrick (3rd year in the program)
**** I'm assuming Gaines redshirts this year

I know our freshmen coming in are very talented, but none of them will have to be "the man" when they step on campus. They will be able to learn and watch our upperclassmen and develop at their own pace.

We are finally at the stage where we don't have to rely on freshmen to carry us and be the immediate savior of the program, like many of our current players were supposed to be when they arrived.

Also, in your post, it's probably flying right over my head by what do you mean by "getting JK"?

They are playing well together. In the end you beat the other team on the court with you and Cincinnati has done that. No matter what the name on the jersey says. My guess is that Tennessee wishes they had beat Oakland and Louisville probably wishes they had beat Drexel. Hell, even an overrated #22 UNLV team that Louisville beat probably wishes that had beat UC Santa Barbara last night. Just saying...
