I rag on the A10 as much as anyone but it really isn't that terrible this year. I believe last year it was the 5th or 6th best conference(ahead of Pac12). Temple, VCU, SLU, UD, UMass, St Joes are going to be pretty good this year. Don't know anything about Butler.

That said, I highly doubt X finishes above .500 for the season

True, my point was more that X recruits above all the other A-10 schools and thus a good coach should have them competing at the top, even in a rebuilding year. X struggled in A-10 play last year and while there is talent in the A-10, no one came close to Xavier's talent.

Is Temple joining Big East for basketball this year or next? I know they come in for football this year.

As for Mack vs. Cronin, who's better? Geez, the winner of the A-10 would be lucky to finish middle of the pack in the Big East. It's a whole 'nother ballgame playing in the Big East. And I don't care if an A-10 team rises up and beats a Big East team here and there. Doesn't mean they're better. Just means they got "up" for that game. Seen it many times when Xavier beats UC. UC wants nothing to do with the game, and Xavier is like a fly buzzing around annoying the hell out of everyone. There is no conference in America that compares to playing b-ball in the Big East conference. It's a dogfight every game. Cronin has got his bunch overachieving. Mack has his bunch underachieving.

You make a great point. Lets look at Xavier, who by a lot of UC fans judgement, including yourself, underachieved: They beat the runner up in the Big East tournament by 23 points, and also beat the third best regular season big east team in the NCAA tournament. And that's a Xavier team, that by your standards, underachieved last year. Either the Big East sucked big time last year, or Xavier had the talent to be the the best big east team, since, by your standards, they achieved all that even though they underachieved.

Also, just how good did you think Xavier was this past year? Elite 8 team? Final four? They lost by 5 in the sweet 16, so I could understand if you thought they were an elite 8 team. But, by your logic, Xavier was a far better team than UC this past year, correct? I mean, Xavier underachieved and had a very close sweet 16 game, while UC overachieved and got blown out in the sweet 16.

Your argument here holds no water. Yes Eggs did lose in the Sweet 16 by 5 to the 3 seed but let's not forget UC beat the the 3 seed one round earlier. UC played a MUCH tougher team in the Sweet 16 did eggs did.

So going by your standards, if Cincy and that other school flipped flopped draws in last years tournament, Cincy wins their Sweet 16 matchup (since they beat the 3 seed) advancing to the Elite8 while eggs loses in the round of 32 (lost to 3 seed)

Again, by UC fan's standards, Xavier underachieved and barely lost in the sweet 16. UC overachieved, again by UC fan's standards, and got blown out in the sweet 16. I think that speaks volumes to where the programs are really at.

It truly does speak volumes seeing that UC beat a 3 seed and eggs lost to a 3 seed.

And speaking of standards, isn't UC fans standards all that matter? At least we have standards. Unlike Xavier's fans, coach and University.

Where the programs are today, UC on the rise XU going downhill big time.

Xavier is clearly on the demise. They won't win 10games this year.

Mack will be fired and I think the bball program will cease to exist at some point in the near future. It's clear the athletic department sold their soul to the devil awhile back.

Uc will win the crosstown classic by at least 30 points. Sorry eggs, you are finished as a bball program and school. I will metaphorically piss on your ashes

There is not one player on x's roster that would make the uc team... Even our Walk ons are better than your starters

Team A, is not the same as Team B.
Ohio State > Baylor, by a wide margain. Hence why Ohio State went to the Final 4 and Baylor did not.
More over, UC post Shootout beat more top 25 teams than anyone else in the country. Look at Xaviers record following the shootout. Look at the level of competition. Clearly, the shootout is irrelevant. Clearly, UC improved and Xavier became worse. This is made obvious when you look at who Xavier beat in their non-conf pre-shootout and their losses to Hawai'i among others, that came afterward. Clearly, a team that couldn't put away the Bluehose(pre-shootout UC) is not equal to a team that knocked off Syracuse and Georgetown in back to back nights or who beat the ACC Champion Seminoles or who beat Marquette(sweet 16 team) and Louisville(a final 4 team.)

By my standards, facing the Lehigh Mountain Hawks is lucky and Xavier clearly had no business being in the Sweet 16.(Regardless of how bad they lost to Baylor) They outkicked the coverage by a long shot and barring a lane violation, likely lose to Notre Dame and exit the tournament one and done, just like the year before.
I think that is where their program is today, a lucky break and a team who no ones ever heard of pulling an upset, which allowed for a run.
Now, they'll be back to a borderline NIT team. In fact, I'm fairly certain this year, they will be a NIT team.
Teams are not the same in December as they are in March.

Xavier stinks, mack is horrible, their donors are corrupt, and they are dead as a program.

Let's just all agree on those simple truths

He will do well there. Maryland is starting its post-Williams resurgence. The question is whether he will be eligible this season.

Very, very doubtful imo. Imagine the precedent the ncaa would be setting with this one. Anybody that wants to transfer, gets himself expelled to not have to sit out the year. I don't see that happening.

If the NCAA comes in and punishes XU for the cover up of sexual assaults as they did with Penn State for their cover up, all of their players could transfer and play immediately.

Cool. If that happens and all of Xavier's players are eligible to transfer and play immediately, then I hope UC gets..............

.....none of them. :D

Remember when I told Xavier fans that Mack had them on a steady decline and they thought I was crazy. They have 8 scholarship players this year and 3 graduate at the end of the year. That means they will have 5 returning players next year and 8 open scholarships. EIGHT!!!!

Remember when we brought in an 8 man recruiting class. I never thought I would say this but I really think there is a decent chance that Mack is gone after this year. The administration already hates him, they are going to be terrible this year, and there really isn't any promise of the future. I guess you can always hope for Chris Thomas to show up. But the fact that they would take him with all their other problems just shows they don't learn from their mistakes. He's gone to something like 8 high schools, couldn't graduate high school and eventually went JUCO to get his GED. The future of Xavier basketball!

8 of the 16 guys Mack recruited are gone none by
Graduation. Also lost the number one assistant Kelsey who did not see eye to eye with coach mack

2009. Kevin parom. Jd weatherspoon. Attributed to miller leaving

2010 class. Latham, Canty, mckenzie all left. Martin was a partial qualifier.
2011 class. Wells gone. Not Mack's fault but none the less is gone
2012 class reynolds and Davis. Tbd. The juco might not make it either

2013. Thomas who has major grade and attitude problems. No major college would come within a mile of this guy. Most likely will not qualify

I hope they give Mack an extension. He is drowning the program.
