Obviously they are on fire:

-Have won 6 of their last 7
-16th in the nation in FG percentage
-Beat Syracuse
-Destroyed Georgetown

On the plus side, we beat them and (at least I consider this a plus only for an upcoming game) are coming off a loss which these past few years have sparked increased effort/focus...yes frustrating but I consider it true.

Anyway...Big East games are becoming highly unpredictable to me but I think UC wins this one at home, coming off a loss and really ugly offensive performance.

By the way...does any one know if it is a white out, black out, ring of red or otherwise?

Its a Whiteout. Honestly at this point I dont even know what to think. I say we get the win but it'll be a physical and ugly game.

I think the win at Pittsburgh earlier this season is a very underrated win for the Cats. At least to me, not a lot of people considered Pitt a real threat at the time. Pitt seemed to be an after thought in the Big East at the beginning of this year, but they have proven to be a very capable team and winning at their place any year is no joke.

Should be a great game on Saturday and hopefully the Cats come to play (unlike last night). Home games within the conference are a huge advantage and I think the Cats pull a close one out in the end.

If they don't play 2 halves and score at least 60 points the result will be the same as last night.

I keep waiting for this team to change...to develop in the areas they have done poorly. I thought when Cash went out and SK woke up they'd be good to go.

Maybe Saturday.

My thoughts exactly! Although I will say I am not very confident in saying we will win for obvious reasons.

The first time we played Pitt we were very fortunate to have a huge spree by David N. It is safe to say I don't think that will be happening this time. Also, Adams for Pitt has been very very solid in the since mid January and seeing how opposing big men are having their way with us lately, I think Adams will hurt us. Not to mention we suck at home this year and Pitt will be pissed off from the first match up, I say UC pretty much has their backs against the wall. Its not too hard to prepare for UC and Pitt will be ready. I see an offensive titanic struggle. My head says, we lose by 8-10 but my heart says just the opposite.

We shall see... ps... Everyone wear White!

I have no idea if the Bearcat team that shows up on Saturday will be the one that played the second half against Syracuse (except for the last couple of minutes) or the one that played St.Johns or Providence or even Seton Hall.

If it's the former, we beat Pitt in a struggle by 5.

If it's the latter, we lose to Pitt by 10.

i am hoping that we will see the ball movement and motion that the Bearcats showed against the 'Cuse...i really wish i felt more confident with the Bearcats playing at home, but this year has proven otherwise...i think UC will when by a narrow margin because thats just how they do

Go Bearcats!

I think the problem is that "the Cuse" runs a zone, and I think teams are doing us a favor when they do that. For the most part, there are a few well known themes that beat a zone: pass quickly, get the ball in the middle, overload the zone at some point, get in the paint when you can and kick it out.

When it's man, we've decided to go with the dribble drive option, which has not worked.

Agreed. They struggled with the zone the first half against Syracuse, but really handled it well during the second half. Personally, I think that was Rubles' best game. Don't even know how many points he had, but he did a great job getting in the middle and dishing it out. Whether it was a pass down low or a kick out for three.

Even against man, they would get much better looks from three if they would drive to the middle of the lane and dish out to SK, Cashmere, etc for an open 3. Much easier to type that than execute it of course, but I think they need to make a better effort at it. Too many of their 3 point attempts are shots they settle for rather than getting a quality look.

maybe i missed it, but anybody know what happened to Justin Jackson tonight? Why didn't he play in the 2nd half?

He did I heard it on the radio in the bathroom. They said his ankle did not look good and was doubtful to return.

He was the first one on the court for halftime warmups with one of the trainers. He was testing the ankle and it was clear he couldn't return. Best he could do was a light jog and even then he showed a noticeable limp. Haven't heard an update, but based on what I saw, I'd guess it's going to be sore for a few days but shouldn't bother him for more than a game. If the next game was later than Tuesday, I'd be pretty confident he would be ready for it. But I could see him missing Tuesday's game (just based on how he was jogging and knowing the feeling having turned my ankles many a times).

'Adams motivated by UC Student Section'
http://plus.sites.post-gazette.com/...adams-motivated-by-cincinnati-student-section

The Cincinnati student section had two cardboard cutouts they flashed at freshman center Steven Adams. One of them was a large cutout of Adams’ head. The other was a cutout of the head of his girlfriend, Kayla Kiriau, a basketball player at Sheridan Junior College in Wyoming.

Adams did not speak with reporters after the game, but senior guard Tray Woodall said he was motivated by the antics of the student section.

“I wanted to feed the big guy inside because we knew how aggressive he wanted to be today,” Woodall said. “They fired him up a little bit when he saw a picture of his girlfriend in the crowd.”

Adams didn't have a great game because of something our students did. He has been playing great and it was obvious before the game he was going to dominate us. I think its funny what our students did, good for them.

He played great, but definitely got away with traveling on that up and under.

It was typical Xavier trash. Make it personal and girlfriend/wife in to it. Yeah, really funny and classy. Motivated Adams to have his best game of the season.
