Actually it is something you can teach/coach in practice and drills. Or get guys who can. Its pretty simple. Its more than just saying oh this player has it or doesn't. Time for Mick to take accountability.
Agree with "get guys that can". Finishing at the rim is a mentality. Anticipating and adjusting to contact is not easy for a lot of players. If you look at the players this.year compared to the likes of kmart, Hicks, and Max, it's night and day. Those guys were physically imposing, traffic dunkers. JJ was never meant to be a full time center. He did a great job realizing that in order to have an impact he needed to drop the dream of being a jump shooter. But hes just not the physical player that those guys in the past were.

Assistant coaches bumping players with oversized pads is a lot different than a 225 pound center with a wing span trying to block you.

For a coach with his experience (11 yrs head coach) Micks 6 appearances are way above average. Also UC is 1 of 16 schools to go to 4 straight NCAA Tournaments. People are so misinformed and see the MSU and Dukes of the world (oh wait Duke has lost to Mecer and Lehigh in the first round) that they think this is common.

Yeah, you are right. 4 straight NCAA tourney appearances, conference COY, conference co-champions with the defending national champions, highly rated recruiting class coming in. Most high major schools would be looking for a new coach. Only at UC would you get a raise. Brilliant.

Highly rated recruiting class? Guess we have different opinions on highly rated. But most would say top ten is highly rated. Let's see where this class is rated at theend of the year.
