First, what does WVU has to do with this thread?

Second, You're correct. Mick's job isn't on the line. 3 NCAA tourney wins in 8 years would be the end for most high major schools. At UC you get a raise.
Yeah, you are right. 4 straight NCAA tourney appearances, conference COY, conference co-champions with the defending national champions, highly rated recruiting class coming in. Most high major schools would be looking for a new coach. Only at UC would you get a raise. Brilliant.

The first 4 dont count since he had no players. So its really 3 wins in 4 years and recruiting is starting to roll. But yeah lets put the youngest winning coach in the country on the hot seat. Makes sense.

I can't even deal with some of the bullshit on here. I hope no recruits ever check this place out cuz a few people make us sound like some pathetic fans.

Mick isn't going anywhere. You are crazy if you think he is. His job is 100% solid, as it should be. That conversation should end right there.

The problem with that is we did not have any big men to play. Maybe he just spent last year playing the 4 because Strickland was ineligible and Dave did not contribute much. He played where we needed him to play

I'm not basing my opinion on what position he played, I'm basing it off of the skills he showed while in the game. He did not show any signs of being able to handle the ball in the open court, defend against another 3, penetrate the lane like a 3 should, or have the range that a 3 needs. Lawrence is a face up 4. Yes, he played the 5 but if you watched him on offense when he got the ball he faced up his defender just like he would if he was playing the 4. Not much difference in this system.

For a coach with his experience (11 yrs head coach) Micks 6 appearances are way above average. Also UC is 1 of 16 schools to go to 4 straight NCAA Tournaments. People are so misinformed and see the MSU and Dukes of the world (oh wait Duke has lost to Mecer and Lehigh in the first round) that they think this is common.

This is false. Comparing the handles of Rubles to Lawrence is just ridiculous. Lawrence can handle it like a guard. Rubles falls over when he tries to cross someone over. Lawrence has better handles than Rubles and its not even close.
Be honest with yourself, when have you've EVER seen Lawrence get rebound and bring ball up court let alone cross someone over? This isn't high school buddy.

I give Mick pass for not making tourny first couple yrs in BE. Lets not kid ourselves though if Mick EVER don't take us to tourny in AAC he should be fired ASAP.

And who do you think will take the job Einstein knowing that they will be fired ASAP if they don't make the tourney every single year.

Rubles had better handles by far. Did u see at Louisville he was bringing it up against them like a guard. Rubles was a pretty good ball handler actually. I do have high hopes for lawrece tho

Well buddy that is not how you determine "handles". Lawrence did the smart thing which is get it to the guard while Rubles turned the ball over countless times trying to do something that he couldnt by bringing it up the court. If you dont know that Lawrence can handle the rock then you dont know anything about his game. It takes time to get allow your skills to translate.

Dribbling the ball up the court with no pressure is not handles. Its being able to control the ball and create an advantage for yourself without turning it over. Rubles was given the ball because Harrell was guarding him and not pressuring him. My comment was not meant to put down Titus. He was a stretch 4 and im not claiming he was David Nyarsuk with the ball. However he consistently lost the basketball when trying to dribble it on the perimeter.

All this fire Cronin crap is so dumb. Come on people...he is doing a hell of a job. However I would like or wish someone would directly ask him...."why in the past 3 years has every UC team struggled to finish around the rim?" I want Cronin to take some accountability here. Sure Cronin is great at pointing out we missed 16 layups but the bigger issue is why?!!!! Why do we consistently struggle to score around the rim? Year in year out its our biggest issue and I am tired of it.

I love how Cronin always says he shows current players video of Hicks and Maxiell and Kenyon. About how tough they are and finish are the rim but yet none of our current guys ever finish around the rim. Sorry coach but its time to actually coach and not show video clips.

When he turned it over he was forcing it, but as far as 4s goes he had handles, he could lead a fastbreak and bring it up. LAwrence needs strength and confidence to show us what he has, but rubles was easily the better ball handler this year.

Just because he handled the more does not make him the better ball handler. This also is not a comparison of what they did but who they are. Jermaine didnt play this year hardly. Titus played 30 min a game. And when Lawrence did play he was at the 5 most of the time. No chance to handle the ball.

True he did not play much and his skills need time to transfer, I'm not saying he's bad at all. I got real high hopes for him. I'm just saying rubles was a good ball handler for his position

I'm confident in Lawrence's improvement. Look at the progression Rubles and Jackson made. We had to have them step up. I'd say they both exceeded expectations...esp at seasons end last year. Did anyone honestly think they would both step up as much as they did? I mean I thought they'd improve but they both were better than I thought. I think you'll see a similar progression from Lawrence. The future is bright fellas. Let's enjoy the ride. These guys deserve our support. Count me in.

U want mick to show them how to dunk? Unfortunately finishing at the rim is.something you either have or grow into, there aren't any X's and O's about it

Actually it is something you can teach/coach in practice and drills. Or get guys who can. Its pretty simple. Its more than just saying oh this player has it or doesn't. Time for Mick to take accountability.
