I believe KD Johnson commit this weekend

Johnson
Newman
Davenport
Ody
Koval

That would be huge sort of a head scratcher for me. DDJ is here for another year, Saunders has 3 years left. MAW two, Mason 3 not that he can't be recruited over.

I mean it would be a huge get, just weird to smash these guys all in this year. Gotta do it and not worry about people's feelings, but a few peoples minutes are going doooown if he comes.

Andrew Garcia seems like the Georgia player we'd most likely be able to land given our current roster make-up. He seems like he'd be able to give us a solid 20-25 minutes/game at the 4 position.

It's hard for me to see us landing a player like Murray without having any prior connections and the ability to give him the keys to the car - meaning that he'll have a lot of competition for shots/minutes.
Agree about Garcia. He would allow Ody to stick to the 5 and free JD up to play some 3.

For Murray, the only thing I can think of is he played at a prep school in New Hampshire. Wes and MAW also played prep there, so maybe some kind of connection. That's quite a stretch though, probably means nothing. I think he would be a go to scorer for us on the wing though.

Looks like we are in talks with Mississippi State senior Abdul Ado has entered the transfer portal. Put up 6 ppg, and 7 rebounds this past season... basically a one year rental with Korval

Interesting. If we bring in Ado I think Koval's role is drastically reduced. Ado would start for sure, and I think Ody would get the bulk of backup minutes at the 5. We would have some serious frontcourt depth for one year, with 3-4 natural centers.

Jeff Goodman thinks we will land Ado.

This would allow us to start sliding players down. Davenport can play a lot more 3 now with Ody playing more 4. Perhaps Newman can play some 2 as well as 3.

Still hoping one more spot opens up for a perimeter scorer

Ado is exclusively an interior scorer, as is Ody. Offense could really struggle with both on the floor together.

Regardless of how the rotations work out, Ado is an excellent rebounder (11.3 OReb rate), rim protector (8.4 block rate), and finisher (58% true shooting). He doesn't create offense and turns the ball over a lot, but other than that Ado is everything you want in a 5. I expect him to start and average 25 mpg.

Yah I see that. Can go Ado with Davenport and Koval with Ody
I think you could even potentially see some of Ado and Koval together, especially against teams without a stretch/quick 4. Three good big men is a nice problem to have.

I’ll cut lahkin or banks for kD Johnson

KD is gone. But I really wanted a scoring wing and I hope something still opens up. Lakhin probably the only opportunity right now. Sounds like Banks won’t be let go for this year. If Lakhin opts in I would say Wes will honor that as long as he’s healthy.

Worried about scoring right now. Defense should be very solid.

Not knowing anything, I’d give lakhin about a 5% chance of ever playing here. Even if he wanted to play here, why would he at this point. We just brought in 3 dudes that play similar positions. I would guess, if Wes can get a difference maker, he will. There Probably aren’t going to be many difference makers that are going to be available at this point.

I suppose Lakhin could redshirt if he wanted. There will be playing time available for him next year if he's a good player.

5/19/2021 - Louisville 2019 PF Quinn Slazinski (6-8, 210, 4★) will be transferring to Iona.
