How can they look so good for long stretches and then look absolutely horrid in the same game? It doesn't make sense to me, it has to come down to focus doesn't it?

Mick just said he told Justin and Jeremiah that he wasn't playing them because he wanted his best defensive unit out there down the stretch. He told them both they played well today but he felt he needed more defense.

Im so tired of this defensive BS. They were playing just fine. Scoring at will. That alone will win you games.

The defense wasnt the only reason Prov was getting back into the game. It was because we act like we havent seen a press in years. Once you cross half court, freaking ATTACK!! Finally with 2 min left they did

But a win is a win and hopefully they can learn how to beat a press early on

Win 3 out of the next 5 and no bubble worries. This team will not get left out of the tourney with an 11-7 league record.

Especially when you consider that there could be two or three B1G teams on the bubble with a sub .500 conference record (Northwestern, Minnesota, and Illinois).

People say every year that the bubble is weak but if you really look at it this year, it is a true statement. When you look at teams like XU who is getting torched in an average league and the three B1G teams you listed above, plus add in the extra 4 teams in the tourney (68 total) and I really think 11 wins in conference is the magic number. Win against Seton Hall and all you have to do is win 2 out of 4. I think this team will beat Seton Hall and then take one of two from UL and MU at home. That leaves games at USF (an important game in the standings) and at Nova. Should be able to get one of those and honestly, I would expect to win both. USF isn't playing in that miniature gym anymore so that will help.

Just keep winning. USF is going to be tough to beat on the road. I'll keep saying it. The trouble with UC is mental. When they are focused to play they beat anybody. They lack focus and shut it down mentally when they get leads. Don't know how you fix it or if you can.

The only thing that can fix that is a sense of urgency at this point in the season. As the season progresses and each game matters that much more, hopefully their focus will increase as well. Only time will tell. 1 down, 5 to go.

They will get left out of the NCAA Tourney if their RPI remains in the 80's or 70's. Even in the 60's your chances of an at large are slim. To get the RPI in the 50's it is going to take a huge run. Go to the RPI predictor with conference tourney at live-rpi.com.

The defense down the stretch was brutal. Careless turnovers led to a lot of points but the defense was terrible. The press offense was fine if it weren't for a couple guards that made stupid nonchalant passes. Cash being one of them.

Let's give credit to the 2 Providence players as well. They were making some very tough shots with guys on them and in their face. Council was a 30% three point shooter coming into the game. He made several contested 3's.

i have to disagree with this. i think i saw one 3 made from him that was really contested. the rest he had plenty of spacing.

Just because he made a 3 doesn't make it a prayer. He made four 3's, there is no way three of them were contested. it's just another way to excuse bad defense.
