Man, for goodness sakes, it isn't about the pace. The point thing is tied to efficiency NOT pace.
I can bring up efficiency stats.
We are 18-0 in our top 18 offensive efficiency games. 19-2 in all games where our efficiency was greater than 1 point per possession.
We are 7-2 against the top 100 when reaching that efficiency (kenpom numbers).
We are 14-6 in our top 20 highest pace games. We are 4-5 against top 100 teams in those games.
Perhaps there is a correlation between efficiency and pace. Are you able to tell, of the 21 games >1 ppp, how many were in the top 20 highest pace games?
To start people need to understand we NEVER played with any sort of high tempo. The most possessions we ever got in a game was 66 (in regulation). That is still pretty slow ball.
From an efficiency standpoint it's all over the place with pace. 9 of the 21 games we had 57 or fewer possessions. 7 of them we had 63 or more possessions.
To expand some of on that, of our 10 most efficient games, 5 had 63 or more possessions, 4 had 55 or less possessions, and 1 had 61 possessions.
We play slow and we force others to play slow. That's just how it is. Even if we get out in transition some it's still going to be a slow game because people can't get shots up against us.
I havent gotten to read all the responses so forgive me if this sounds a little ignorant of some of the statistics that have been presented. I think you can look at pace in different ways. UC will never be a fast paced team. Their defense simply wont allow them that. It's their bread and butter and they wont get away from it which will limit their possessions. Making it all the more important to be efficient on offense because of the limited opportunities. However to Jacobs' point. The last 5 games of the season when the opportunity presented itself to get out on the break UC ran with it. This got them higher percentage shots because the defense could not get set. It got them layups and wide open jump shots. Those things will absolutely help with you efficiency. When they can get on the break they should. If you arent efficient in the half court try to run and get easier baskets.

Anyone know how our turnovers forced per game stacks up to other years?
And on the offensive rebounding thing, I swear UConn had easily 3 or 4 different trips where they had the ball for close to 2 minutes bc they kept getting long rebounds.
People don't care if your thugs or not when your winning. Those same thugs played on primetime tv every other weekend.People are going to find things to hate about things they hate. People still think we are a bunch of thugs from those 90's teams. It's like the first thing that popped up when I peaked over at the Purdue boards.
I say F all of them. If people want to hate us without truly knowing us, who cares.
