Help Support BearcatTalk:

We're passionate fans, not perfect people. Judging people for how they react to a sporting event in the heat of the moment is a little much for me. I honestly have no idea what I said during parts of the game. And I'm sure it wasn't all "proper" or whatever, but it all comes from being ultra competitive. So let's not act like the game was in hand the entire way and we played a beautiful game. I refuse to be made to feel like I (or anyone else) need(s) to apologize for being a fan. That's what fans do. We want to win. Tonight was a roller coaster ride. This thread reflects that.

100% this. Well said.

Just got back home from the game. Very proud of the team and its heart. Great game. Suprised how much fan support we got from Kentucky fans. Read thru this thread. It was an embarrassment quite frankly. Certain people who constantly complain about ourfans proved that they are just as bad themselves. Not mentioning any names. You know who you are.

Getting very tired of people bashing Larry Davis when anything goes bad, and asking for Mick to return soon. Mick lost to a 12 seed Ivy League school as a 5 seed. Larry had his center ejected and could have had his team fall apart, but he kept them together and fought back to win in miraculous fashion. The season could have come crashing down after ECU and Tulane, but he didn't let it happen. The guy has done a great job and he is now undefeated in the NCAA. The team never quit on him. That says a ton!

Big props to these guys. No matter what happens Saturday, this will be huge leading into next season. Glad I got to see this in person.

L-T, LD is a very good game coach. Level-headed, positive reinforcement throughout. Doesn't waste energy bashing the refs. Doesn't try and micro-manage every possession, he plays the averages, and you can tell he's got a strong pulse on the metrics.

From what I've seen, his haltime adjustments are usually spot-on. People knocked him for trying some guys out mid-season, but that's what the season is for. How do you know if Quadri Moore can play until you give him a chance, and I'm not talking about Stony Brook. Figured out Moore wasn't ready and cut his minutes.

Moved Sanders to start, which was the right move, both because Sanders was playing well, and, more importantly, Shaq needed some tough love. Sanders struggles, and he goes back to Shaq, who has been much better since. Was reluctant to move Cobb to starter, with good reason, but made the move and really found the ideal mix and rotation for this team.

Right now, this team has a togetherness that I haven't seen in UC basketball in a while and that includes Huggins. And one month ago, they were on the brink of collapse.

This team isn't incredibly talented, which I think some people will learn the hard way next year, when Mick returns, and people expect us to win the conference and go deep in the tourneys. Using the SRS metric, this team would rank below all but one of Huggins' teams. It would rank below Mick's last four teams. Yet, here we are, an eighth seed in the second round of the tourney, with a chance to make history.

One of the most under-appreciated coaching jobs I've witnessed in all my years watching college basketball. Hopefully, the HR reps and administrators that make decisions about head-coaching positions will realize there are more important things than spending a few years as an assistant to Rick Pitino.

A couple plays before that Hammons cleared out the lane with an elbow that wasn't called. It cleared Ellis out of the way and was as blatant as can be...not trying to swing at him, just clearing him out of the way. Not saying that was a culprit but I said as soon as that happened and there was no call that the officials needed to get the bigs under control before any shit went down. Wouldn't you know what followed.

hahaha so many funny posts! So proud of our team tonight, showed tremendous heart and tenacity and never gave up. When the ball was rolling around the rim I thought, "No way that falls, the luck of Cincy would never let the happen". I'm sure everyone was surprised!

I started celebrating before it dropped and was wondering why no one else was yet, lol. Thank god it dropped!

What a freaking game. Finally UC catches a break. I really hope this brings out the best in Caupain because when he is assertive he is a really good play but otherwise he is very average. UC needs him to be aggressive at all times.

Deberry is the man, which I've been saying all season long. The only thing holding him back is his conditioning. He gets in-shape next year and watch out!

Oh yeah, I'm sure he did. He's gotta get some thick skin. He needs to get in some meditation classes and learn Buddhism. He's gotta tai chi the situation and play on.

Why wouldn't Hammons say something? Most players talk smack nowadays including UC and it's so freaking easy to get under Ellis' skin. A couple no call touch fouls and he's basically done.

Yup, for sure. He has to learn to ignore the irrelevant stuff. I said earlier, wait til we play X next year and you got Reynolds's ridiculous mouth chirping at him. As much as I would love to see Ellis lay him out cold, I would rather him just dunk in his face. Hopefully UC gets him the help he needs this summer.

If he actually channeled his anger towards attacking the basket rather than throwing cheap shots he'd be unstoppable. He was completely intimidated by the 7 footers that all he tried to do was draw weak fouls instead of just attacking them.

Yeah it was bad how bad he was getting dominated. I was calling for him to come out before his incident. Since he can't use his body to his advantage and draw fouls he has to rely on his quickness...which he doesn't really have and his footwork skills aren't where it needs to be in order to be effective. That's where I miss JJ. I bet you he could have made some really quick post moves and spin off of hammons or hass.
