may be time to switch him and Sal Romano. Big Sal threw 7 shutout innings last night in AAA. Rookie just does not seem pitch efficient at this point and he does have options.

I was thinking Reed and call Astin back up. But they could use Romano too if they would get rid of Arroyo already.

I think they will have a short leash with arroyo but I really believe some of this is tied to service time issues. Bronson is also good with the young players. Don't think he will be active long.

Adleman doesn't have service time issues. He gives us a way better chance to win, even though he isn't good.

This quote from Arroyo bothered me:

"It doesn’t help the ball club out, it means nothing to maybe the other 24 guys in this locker room,” Arroyo said. “But for me personally, it was a victory to get out there and throw that first pitch."

The guy isn't here to win and he knows it. Not acceptable in professional sports. We are not tanking anymore. Every start from him is a middle finger to the fans and every other player in the organization.

Garrett's changeup is nasty. Especially deadly with how quick he works.

Same with Rookie Davis. He threw a 95 MPH fast ball on the outside corner the other day and the followed it with an 81 MPH off speed pitch on the inside. completely locked the guy up

Garrett is showing himself to be much more pitch efficient at this point in their development. Getting ahead of major league hitters is huge. Rookie has not been very good at that to date.

I was really hoping I'd never have to see this again. Sigh.

Any guesses on his line tonight? I'll say:

1.2 IP 11 H 10 ER 2 BB 0 K
Gosh I hope not. Really think Bronson has value as a mentor to the youngsters but if this start goes like the last one it may be time to don his coaching hat and step away from his playing days. Like you I think he gets hammered.

He just can't consistently get major league hitters out. If he wants to get into coaching, I'm all for that.

FYI Adleman went 7 IP 5 H 2 ER 1 BB 6 k In his first start in Louisville. I know he's a AAAA/spot starter type but I'd love for him to be the guy eating innings until Disco comes back. At least he can handle a workload for a couple months and get 15-18 outs. Our bullpen is going to be dead by July at the rate we're going.

Reed will probably take Rookie Davis spot in rotation. I also think Arroyo is operating on a short leash. Lot will depend on how Reed performs in the rotation.

Reed
Finnegan
Arroyo
Garrett
Feldman

If Stephenson can build on his 2 innings last night he may be given the next opportunity until Romano clears super two status.

By June I envision quite a competition for the starting rotation.

Reed
Stephenson
Bailey
Disco
Garrett
Romano
Feldman
Finnegan
Davis

Feldman needs to stay in the rotation no matter what so we can hopefully move him at the deadline. Maybe get an underachieving prospect or guy coming off of Tommy John or something. I think Romano and Stephenson are the odd men out for now.

Yea I cant fathom what's going on there. It makes ZERO sense.

He has no business pitching in the majors. Has zero ability to get any strikeouts...makes it REALLY tough. Honestly, his 9.90 ERA and 1.60 WHIP feel like it's as good as he can do. The announcers and newspaper writers in Cincinnati make me want to puke. They are so phony about this whole thing. And if they aren't being phony and are really on board with Arroyo, that's even worse.

Luis Castillo (W, 1-0) 7.0 3 1 1 0 6 1 1.38 throw in Castillo. Pitched another gem tonight. This team has young arms !
