Here is a link you may enjoy to a very good site concerning reds minor leagues with lots of good conversation on the parent club and more.
Bruce doesn't want to be part of the rebuild and his recent comments have made that crystal clear.
I think the Reds should trade Hoover for Chapman
Brandon Phillips for Jose Altuve
Billy Hamilton for Mike Trout
Jay Bruce for Giancarlo Stanton
Adam Duvall for Bryce Harper
Barnhart for Posey
Simon for Kershaw
and if they would do it Straily and Cingrani for Cueto and Bumgarner
I think that should do it.
THE BIG RED MACHINE! will need to trade Votto also
For Cabrera and then we can flip Suarez for Machado

That's too many strikeouts in your line-up. That's only three in the starting rotation. Are Lamb and Finnegan the other two?
As to payroll, they wouldn't have to worry about it. The payroll deficit would be made up in increased ticket sales. Can you say sellout every game!
According to Peter Gammons, Reds asking price is really high for Bruce. They want 2 elite close to major league ready prospects and would like another prospect who is 19 or 20 years with some potential.
According to Buster Olney the Reds are looking for position player prospects more than pitching prospects for Cozart and Bruce.
Cubs get Chapman from Yanks in blockbuster. Man did they land some talent. should have been the reds, WOW!!!
The problem the Reds had was they did not know what Baseball was going to do with Chapman after he shot up his garage in a argument with his girl friend. If he would have been suspended for the whole season the Reds could have ended up with nothing. After that his market value also took a hit. The reds decided to get what they could and not roll the dice. I can't blame them. The Reds did okay ridding themselves of Chapman. There's always more value in season than offseason, but the Cubs overpaid! I wish the Reds would've received even half what the Yanks got.

30 days is a long suspension. They also probablydidn't want the PR nightmare. Plus a guy firing a weapon 8 times in his garage after a argument with his girlfriend is not to be confused with a stable employee. Where do you draw the line with athletes.?The reds had to know that his suspension would not be long. There was no lawsuit. They also were shady about it, remember Boston was said to have known about the DV case before it was public and they traded for a closer, then the Reds panicked and WJ wanted him gone no matter what. Should have weathered the storm.

Pat I guess will have to agree to disagree on a 30 day suspension. I agree it was a salary dump but the timing was affected by the incident. Holding him until the deadline looks good now because you don't have to try and perdict the market. You win some and you lose some in the trade game. time will tell how this one turns out. I didn't forget about Simon but he didn't have to face the commissioner and a new domestic violence policy. Certainly not a good move for the Reds but I can understand how it happened.30 days is not long when the season is 6 months. NY took on the supposed PR nightmare and flipped Chappy for the #1 prospect the Cubs have. The real question was over his arbitration clock which was not affected. You must have forgotten about Alfredo Simon who had a lawsuit on him for rape and we traded him away and they got him back and wow, what a PR nightmare it has been with him. Overall, poor business decision by the reds, attendance was already tanking, the public has a short term memory, hold him back and trade at deadline to buyers. The whole thing smells like a salary dump of 5 mil.
