6-6 would be fine by me. I had a really good feeling about this team after they thrashed Purdue. Then LeGaux goes down with that injury. Then a questionable performance against Miami, then losing to USF.

When's basketball start? :D

My 8-4 prediction is looking optimistic today.

Losses to Houston, Rutgers and Louisville are basically guaranteed at this rate.

UConn and Temple are leaning towards us, SMU is a toss up.

I will say 6-6.

Thankfully, I most likely will not be watching any of those games...

Oh ye of little faith, 8-4 is still possible. I think they will pull it together and finish 8-4 or 7-5.

Do you realize how bad the 3 teams we have beaten are? Miami and Purdue are absolutely putrid, and NW State is an FCS school. South Florida was winless and just beat us. I don't know what you've seen that makes you believe this team could possibly still win 8 games, but I wish I could see it.

Guess you have never seen a Tommy Tuberville team before. He tends to lose games that make you scratch your head, and then when you are ready to give up hope, they start winning games you don't think they will win. I know a few Texas Tech fans who say he is inconsistent. If he has talent, he can usually pull out 7-8 wins. This team is talented, they just can't find there rhythm right now. We will have plenty of opportunities to get back on track. I am frustrated right now also, but I think when you look at TT throughout his career, 7-8 wins is pretty normal. I just looked it up, he has finished with 7 or more wins 11 times out of 17 years. When he didnt finish with at least 7 wins, he never lost less than 5 games. That is pretty consistent and I think 7-5 or 8-4 are still with in reach if they get their act together.

Nah, Tuberville wants to stop playing nationally televised games like he said during the Belk Bowl. Our genius AD hired him without even an interview. Tubs is here to collect a fat check and retire....the team is handled by Gran (OC) and Kaufman (DC). Gran should have been fired/demoted during that bye week.

Cincinnati got Kragthorped by this guy....

Waterhead, I like what you have started. Look at our resident pessimist, looks like he is way off yet again....

Haha! It's cool to take a look back huh?

Oh, we could do a lot better and go back and find a LOT of pessimistic stuff if we really wanted to. Let's see if the pessimists remember first:)

If this team can get through the OOC schedule without losing, I think they can put a nice run together. The Illinois game worries me a little. Not because they are going to be good, but because it is the first road game with a new coaching staff. You just never know what is going to happen. If they can run the OOC table, then I think 10-2 is a worst case scenario.

I don't usually toot my own horn, but this prediction was spot on. Had they won the Illinois game, UC would be 10-1 going into the UL game. :D

Haha well done Jason. I said worse than 10-2 will be a major disappointment; I will be majorly disappointed if we lose next Thursday so that makes sense.

Yeah, and if they had beaten USF.............IF. Remember all of you jumping all over Ralph pre-season? At least he almost analyzed the season correctly. No rah-rah, just told it like he saw it. Biggest mistake this season, other than continually running RDAIV up the middle, was opting to start Legeaux at QB. Kay, shoulder problems and all, was the superior passer (previously proven). Today's fad is the running QB. That's great as long as he has ability as a passer as well. Otherwise, might as well go back to the wishbone. While Munchie could run, he never ran aggressively. Actually to me, he looked like he was running scared. How ironic that he got injured in the backfield on a passing play. I wish him a speedy recovery. But I hope we have some decent QB recruits, because Coney is definitely NOT the second coming. Next season will be interesting if all we have is Munchie

Gunner Kiel is the future. I can't wait to see him on the field.

Hope he lives up to all his hype. He has a good pedigree, but has a family history of leaving teams. His brother played for Indiana, but left the team. Now he's left ND for UC. I'm glad it happened to Kelly, though. What a cheap shot he pulled to abandon UC right before the Sugar Bowl.

Yup, but Ralph was wrong. No matter what happens, we will finish better than 8-4. Next year, Bennie Coney and Gunner will battle it out. In fact, Brian Kelly compared Gunner to Tony Pike. I'd take that all day long.....

Yah...I think a lot of us were on the same page as you Jason. The schedule was really light and we had a pretty good team coming back. 11-1 give or take 1 was the expectation for a lot of fans. The big question was how much was a brand new coaching staff going to alter the situation.

We had some speed bumps in the first part of the season. Although we did not want this to happen it would have been perfectly rational to expect it. We had just been down the SAME road with Jones just THREE years earlier. Some fans were saying that the hiring off TT was going to set this program back light years. And that could still happen...but they have done a nice job of turning this season around.

Miami, Ill, and USF stand out. You can go back and look to these threads for classic fan over-reaction. The pessimist looks at these games and decides how horrible we are (either worst D1 program in history or we will be lucky to win another game etc). The realist looks at the games and says, hey we didn't play all that well but there were things I saw that makes me feel we can still be a good team. Against Miami it was our D and the fact that we were trying to be the power running team rather than the spread passing team. Against ILL it was a lot of early mistakes. We mounted a come back and then Munchie broke his leg and it really effected the team mentally (as a rational person would expect). USF was the game we found out we should have been a spread passing offense all along...but we found that out way too late in the game.

The pessimist looked at all the scores and said we will struggle to be 6-6. The realist looked at the games and said...it's too early to tell but we could still be a pretty good team...or we could continue the new coach blues. I think the new coach vindicated himself against Houston yesterday...and right now I would give us a 50-50 shot agains UL. Maybe 55-45:) The pessimist? 10% maybe...if we even decide we should step on the same field with them

Don't think it will be much of a battle from what little I've seen of Coney. I only know of Kiel's stats and hype, but he sounds like a perfect fit for TT and the Cats.

Looks like UC is 25th in the coaches poll (27th in AP). The Bearcats have been a different team since that USF loss. While Kay is still turnover prone, our offense has at least shown the ability to move the ball and more importantly put it in the end zone. The defense has played solid all season. The dbacks have gotten better as well as the season progressed. I'll hand it to the coaches for making the adjustment after that USF loss and embracing the spread offense and a passing attack. The Louisville game will be interesting. I hate that it is a Thursday night. I will be there, of course, but it's really hard for the working class people of America to adjust to ESPN's need to let the west coast watch midweek sports. The earliest that game gets done is 11:45, more than likely it runs past midnight. Now that I'm done with my rant, I can't wait for this game. Louisville has shown to be the better team, but we have the advantage of Nippert under the lights. Kay has to control his mistakes. INT's happen, but he needs to be smarter about when and where to take chances. I want to see Williams get the start at RB. Use RDA in the passing game or for a change of pace back. Miliano needs to man up and make his kicks. If we win it won't be a blowout and there's a good chance we'll need a fg or two. And we definitely need the PAT's. I don't know much about Louisville, but they're not flawless. Our defense needs to force them into mistakes.
