I wonder if we could get any of those Indiana guys if Archie gets fired. The Moller kid or the two wings we were in on last year. I know the wings aren’t doing great but they were higher rated. Something to keep an eye on

Or the kid that ended up going to Elon. He’s also having a bad year but the team is awful. Could need a change of scenery. These are the kind of players I think we could get

Give me the Moeller kid. Any day. All day.

Realistically there is going to be 100s in the portal. College basketball is going to have a problem on there hands unless things change some

I’d guess he would have several big offers but we would have some obvious advantages. Minutes, city. Xavier would already have players in front of him. Of course Archie had to get fired first.

I don't think the transfer problem is going to be as bad as many people think. There will be more transfers, but I don't think there will be that many more. I think the increase in transfers will mostly be upper classmen.

It will benefit skilled mid-major guys who want to move up for their final year or two and prove themselves at a high level of play. And also the reverse, high-major guys who can't cut it and want to move down for minutes. I don't think sideways transfers will become much more common. Except in the case of coaching changes, coaches leaving will likely become more chaotic.

UC is kind of in the middle ground. I don't think we are high-major enough to attract guys who want to prove themselves at a high level or low major enough to attract guys who want easy minutes. We will attract guys who just want to move down a little (like DD) or guys like Rap who want to move up, but aren't good enough to play for a high-major.

For the most part guys are more likely to succeed sticking with their team than they are by moving teams. They know that, so most they won't be rushing to the transfer portal.

There was around 1000 (a record) last year if I remember right and with no penalty (most likely), I’m sure there will be more. Transfers happen for all different reasons. Coaching changes, team sucks, minutes, personal reasons, bad fit, etc.. this year will be more than ever with the pandemic. There will be talent out there,

There’s going to be a record set of the amount of transfers that occur this year

There is a very big issue with the portal. I think every kid should get one free transfer to not sit, then if they transfer again they have to sit. But the portal makes every kid think well you know i am not playing here and I don't feel like waiting so screw it I am transferring, the issue here is most of these kids are a dime a dozen, very few top prospects are really sought after. Look at the football portal right now....

1,074 student athletes have entered the portal
Only 299 of them have received scholarships (28%)
That's 72% that don't have anywhere to go yet, I understand there is still whole offseason left but a lot of these kids will be left out when its all over.

Basketball has so many more teams so the portal is so much larger and so many kids think they are better than they really are and will have no where to go.

That's the key.... These guys think they are better than the are. They have been top guys in hs. They get bad information from friends and family etc.

Im not really sure ive seen anything that says saunders is a high IQ guy.

Exactly ! Not trying to bash the young in’ but
what has he shown so far to provide optimism ?
Can’t shoot (although FT good) and can’t defend
(Size). Realize he’s just a Fr and can improve
but can’t rely on that.

We should probably chill a bit on the frosh. For some it takes a year for others 2. We recruit talent not veteran players. Harvey had talent and so does Tari. Gabe has talent. We have seen a hundred times that frosh need some adjustment time and occasionally are ready for a bit more but almost none are ready to be featured.

Been saying this since brannen arrived. These aren’t top 10 guys. They take time. Even with cronin, only a few freshmen came in and made an impact immediately. They will improve. They probably won’t be sk but most of them will contribute something before they graduate.

Eason's mom not exactly throwing a party on twitter. Still no reason to worry about Eason leaving?

Don’t want it to happen but not worried. Players have been put in a position to do what they want with no commitment obligation. He could be very good but much like Harvey he doesn’t seem to be happy. If he and his mom want to look for a better situation he should. I

I was high on Harvey and don’t want to downplay his leaving but it’s not as if he was a current key cog. We were hoping he turned into that next year.

I'm worried about more players leaving, but I do not support changing strategy or rotations to cater to individual players.

Honestly this ain’t even fun no more.

I have no idea what John has planned for the program. I just hope he has a plan and everything is going according to it.

Just win and I don’t care who’s on the team.

Then there's this tweet quoting Kevin Johnson. https://twitter.com/NatiBuck513/status/1362026671449272321

"This team lacks team chemistry and togetherness"... "Its the parents and other people in these guys ears with the wrong info".

Listening to John Brannen lately (post-games and radio show) he's gone on a fair amount about how "outside voices influence inside choices" and not listening to those outside the program.

All this hints that Harvey is not the only potential problem or may not be the only guy who will leave. All indications is that Eason is probably one of the potential guys to leave, wonder if there are others.

And all this after we've won 4 straight games. A losing streak (or a few blowout losses) may be disastrous for player retention if it's already hanging on the edge.

Just think you’re stirring the pot here to say “all this hints”... I think you’re stretching. KJ message also said he thinks Zach should stay. Also as vocal as Tari’s mother is I’m sure she would be saying more if there was more.
