I don’t care about sorolla or rap but I seriously doubt he told sorolla he’d be a starter. The dude didn’t start at valpo.

Taking anything Justin says seriously is your first problem. He’s as clueless as all of us and simply makes things up regularly.

I could tell you the sky was blue on a sunny day and you’d find a way to call me wrong. It’s a battle of ego with you. I don’t care to be wrong especially if being wrong means UC or a UC player is playing well.

I’m not saying I’m right or wrong about Brannen and his relationship with some players. I’m just saying one of his highest recruits at NKU left. His ego battles with Jarron, which jarron still takes personal, the leaving of sorolla and rap mid season without any hint it was going to happen, then Dou left, then Gabe left, and now Harvey. And Tari’s mom (who’s since done some damage control) also being unhappy.


This is real: I hope Mason is a Super star in waiting. Because we really need him to be. With no 21 or 22 recruits and no idea if his brother is returning, I want to become the biggest mason madsen fan because it would be a great story and we really need it

Dou ain’t coming back next year. And if he does it’s solely to stay in cincinnati with his family. I know for a fact he ain’t happy.

IMO we’re gonna end up with 6 or 7 open spots next year and may have to beg for Keith and Vogt to stay.

We have to crush it in the transfer market. Like we need to dominate. Maybe even drop some bags of cash. Cheat if that’s what it takes.

Maybe he can’t. But next year if he leaves our bigs consists of Lahkin, a freshman who hasn’t practiced all year because of injury and Tari.

We have to crush it in the transfer market. Or year 3 is another shit season.

It’s not ego at all. You had problems on every messsage board you’ve been on. I’m not the issue. If everyone has a problem with you, it’s usually you that is the problem

Honestly, could Zach Harvey not wait 3 weeks to opt out? Even if you hate the coach, can you not finish the season?

Is brannen abusing these guys or what? If not, how bad can it be? What could it be? I haven’t seen this many players leave since Gregg Marshall and he was abusing players. Honestly what could be that bad where these guys feel they have to leave right now?

This makes our roster situation for next year look all the more concerning.

Players who seem all-in: DeJulius, Davenport, M. Madsen

Players who will likely return: MAW, Saunders

Players whose return is questionable: Eason, Dou, G. Madsen, Lahkin

If I had to bet, I would guess Eason and Gabe do return, but the prospect of our team next year without Eason makes things look pretty bleak.

Dou has proven to be capable enough that I would take him back next year in any role possible, but it seems like he's a real wildcard with his family situation.

As for Lahkin, who knows. If he's going to fly halfway across the world in the middle of a pandemic to play for us, I'd hope he'd at least want to see the court at least once. I think his hometown in Russia is far away from the basketball academy he attended in Moscow, so I wouldn't expect homesickness to be an issue with him.

just go back to his time at NKU. This is i believe his 16th player to pack his bags during a season. I dont see how thats good. Do players actually like John? Is he hard to get a long with? Either way its not a good look or a good sign. It sounds like playing time might have something to do with it, so that brings the big question, why is Mikey even getting a minute? hes horizon league talent

It’s not good. It’s the opposite of good. My point is how is it that bad. Harvey should be playing more but every player thinks that. It’s not like he isn’t playing. Is it the combination of losing and the transfer culture? I really don’t know. Even if you think brannen can’t coach or isn’t a people person, it’s not like he is so much of a prick, that guys have to leave right now. Maybe he is but I doubt it. I really don’t understand it. You’re telling me Harvey hating it so much he couldn’t wait 3 weeks.

Bob knight straight up punched and choked kids and didn’t have this many players leaving. I don’t think brannen is bob knight. I get it’s a different time, transferring is a lot easier but what is going on? You have dejulius and Davenport acting like the love brannen and the other half leaving any chance they get

Harvey leaving sucks because i thought he was really starting to come together before the 25 day covid layoff, I know this season was insane because of covid and its very hard for me to hold that against JB, but this isn't new for a Brannen team going back to his NKU days. He wants to hit the transfer market for recruiting again next season and that is terrifying to think about because he has struck out on every major transfer he has tried to get except for Dejulius.

Sorolla- Sucked and didn't even start at Valparaiso.
Mcneal- Horrible and played for 5 schools.
Jaevin- Was exactly what we knew he was, great shooter and bad defender.
Vogt- Extremely average and gets bullied against better competition, he belongs at NKU
RAP- Was the exact opposite of what everyone expected him to be, the slowest player i think ive ever seen.
DDJ- Turing into a very import piece of the roster going forward, he has really developed as the season went on.

I hope he does, but you are basing this off optimism and nothing else. He hasnt shown anything so far. We know he cant shoot, its not a secret and it was spoken about by Snow and everyone else who wrote about him this off season. His quickness and speed was his biggest asset. So far, he doesnt know how to use his speed at this level. If hes pass first, thats fine, but has he shown anyone he has excellent vision and can create for others?

Judging the transfers from his first year is a bit unfair I think. He had to get most of those guys in the summer when no one was available. Rap was the only one that didn’t make sense but I think he came after we stuck out with other bigs. I feel Vogt, sorolla, McNeal, were fillers more than anything but he hasn’t been able to bring in enough guys, where we have to count on those fillers. Those guys wouldn’t matter if we could keep the talented players we bring In gabe and Harvey

Remember how many guys cronin had that didn’t do anything until their 3rd or 4th year? I’m not saying the guy is guaranteed a good player but it takes some players time

I agree with this, Brannen seems more concerned with them running his system, than he is about what they can do with their talent within his system.

Brannen seems to want to be like those elite mid-majors, a bunch of low talent level, but real-smart basketball players who do well because they all play together in the system. Then they run into a team of 4/5-stars and get crushed because they don't have the talent level to compete.

I'm not happy with Brannen so far and not optimistic given his history with transfers. Maybe Eason stays, Brannen crushes the transfer market and we turn it around. If that doesn't happen, I'd be happy with waving goodbye to Brannen at the end of next season.

Brannen has brought in a lot of talent in a year and a half. Davenport, Eason, Harvey, mason, dejulius, even gabe was higher rated. There are 5-6 players that at least could be very solid players. Eason and Harvey could be really good. That’s hard to do in the limited time his been here. The problem is two of them just left.

I agree, next year is a big year for brannen. Some improvements have to be made
