I can remember like yesterday where I was. Sitting in the conference room at work with the radio on. There were 3-4 in the room listening. Our hearts dropped into our stomach.
I think that was the year I went to the Regionals in Anaheim, and we lost to Stanford. Should have kicked their butts.I can remember like yesterday where I was. Sitting in the conference room at work with the radio on. There were 3-4 in the room listening. Our hearts dropped into our stomach.
No we lost to UTEP or Tulsa I think it was.
Yeah, it was 2001 in Anaheim. Should have won that game, too.As a 2 seed, Cincinnati lost to 7 seed Tulsa in the second round.
Fortunately, college basketball has a foolproof way to show who's correct. It's called "Attendance"! The paying public will show you how the majority think and it's vastly different than this site would want you to believe.
WH, there is certainly no chance to fool anyone in here. This is a friendly little faternity of people who think alike, feel their opinion is the way all UC fans think, and don't want to hear from anyone who thinks differently. I'm trying to cheer for the team while I write this. Loving Caupain & Lawrence today. The future is looking bright and if this is where we're headed, attendance will take care of itself. I love the Cats and always have my butt in the stands every game. Don't ever mistake me for being a non-fan. I just call it as I see it. Sorry I can't always agree with everyone.
I'm in the same situation as you, WH. Far away and only see the Cats on the computer or TV, but rarely miss a game, either REAL TIME or REPLAY. A true "fan" will show up to support his/her team whether they're winning or losing. Unfortunately, we (and all sports) have fickle fans. They only want to see winners. They have no knowledge of the intricacies behind the scenes. Too bad. Because if they had even a little understanding they might appreciate the game more. Wish I could be sitting in the stands every game as I did when I still lived in Cincy. I'd sit right next to L-T. He understands this thread.Sorry I missed this one L-T. I agree all opinions are valuable as long as they are presented in a way that gives the whole picture. I agree that "fans in the stands" is about as good as any way to judge how our team is doing. But "fans in the stands" were going to be tough to come by when we were starting from scratch...let's be honest. Let's not judge Cronin so much on the early years as the later years is all I am saying. Any fan who understands the whole situation would have been expecting too much to be NCAA ready after 2-3 seasons. Yes, Huggins was able to do this, but building a team with Jucos was much different back then. Guys like Van Exel, Blount, Patterson, Mickeal, Long, Little, Jones (?), etc were available. I am not sure if these are all Jucos but that is not the point.
Thanks for being in the stands...I don't doubt your dedication. I live in Florida so my way of contributing is to be behind my computer screen when many of these games come on Bearcat TV or ESPN3...and then participating in these forums. I think I have seen every Bearcat FB and BB game (this year) and even BB exhibition matches so far...from afar.
