Signing Day

I think you're way over-stating the impact of this arena. Do you honestly think a recruit walks into the Shoe and thinks to himself, "OMG, this arena is horrible." I think the Shoe is just fine to a player. Throw in the varsity village and Lindner center, weight room, rehab facilities, etc and we have a nice package to offer recruits. The Shoe isn't ugly. It's is still a fairly attractive arena. It certainly wouldn't drive away recruits. However, it does possibly drive away fans. But again, when our program was popular, we filled that horrible arena up and they made us buy football tickets to get our seats on top of it.

There's nothing terribly wrong with these recruits. They all sound like nice players. Do they sound like difference-makers/studs? Not really. They might be the missing piece to this puzzle that eventually gets us over the top. We'll see, but based solely on their ranking, they look about like all the other players we've been bringing in. Most on here seem to be very happy with that type of player and where the program is headed, so only time will tell.

I don't really mean that recruits walk in there and think it's a dump. I mostly mean that it will be jam-packed with people pretty constantly once renovated, which looks great for perception, and recruits. I do also think that showing them those photos of what the arena will look like is a great sell as well. Do you think it's pure coincidence that UC football has one of our best recruiting classes next year?

Gotta love our local newspaper, there's so many articles about signing day on the Enquirer......just kidding. There's nothing there.

I hope you are right about it being jam packed, but I'm not sold on that's the reason why the place isn't selling out. If anything it will help because of reduced seating, but if they are paying $70 MM they are going to be charging a lot more for tickets than they do now.

Yeah, they'll use this as the next opportunity to really raise prices. I don't like cutting capacity so much and I think it's pretty much a waste to spend a lot of money on the same upper deck. You'll still have the same crappy views up there. You'll just be more comfortable having your crappy view. I think the answer couldl be to hang some video screens from the rafters up there where people can at least have the option to watch the action on the screens . I'm also a little puzzled why we're putting in chairback seats where the students are. They don't sit anyway. Why not maximize those areas by leaving them like they are today? I think the arena needs to be modernized. I just think there's a better way to do it.

In the rendering, it looks like one end of the student sections has benches, but the other has chairs...not entirely sure why. Feel like that won't be true when they announce the real renderings.

Point guard Justin Jenifer @round3_ has sent in his LOI and is officially a #Bearcat

UC is going to be deep at guard. Evans will likely play both wing spots I would think.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard he was once a point guard, but since he kept growing (6'6" now?), he moved to shooting guard, and will now play his Senior season primarily as a wing. The versatility he brings will be incredibly useful.

Yeah I read the same thing. Makes you think of a certain Bearcat now on the Hornets...

He had to play PG last year due to need of his HS team, but his natural position is on the wing.
