We can lose to anyone, we can beat anyone.nothing would surprise me.

I would be surprised as a MFer if we won the conference tourney!

It’s a long ass shot and I don’t even care if Houston is in the finals when we get there. That game was so embarrassing that I can’t see it happening again

Wichita just won the league, they are definitely beatable. Houston is beatable. I think any team in the top half of the league can win the conference. These teams aren’t good.

We’ll need Keith to be a star and tari to stay on the floor. If those two guys can simply stay of the floor, we are a completely different team. I’m not sure they both can do that though. Especially 3 games in a row

Looking at some of the key stats that attributed to our first victory over SMU:

-Shot 10/23 from 3 (43.5%) - our best performance of the season

-Held SMU to 5/21 from 3 (23.8%) - our 3rd best performance defending the 3 all season

-Won the rebounding battle 38 to 31 (+7)

-Didn't commit a lot of fouls (17) and didn't draw a lot of fouls (15). Free throws didn't win or lose the game for either team.

-Balanced scoring: 5 players scored between 13 and 18 points (Keith, MAW, Davenport, Eason, and Harvey)

-Keith didn't get into foul trouble and played 33 minutes.

Sounds like Dejulius might be back

DD has been out for 4 games and our AdjO has seen the 1st, 2nd, and 4th highest ratings all year. Not a tough slate of teams but Memphis was in there and their D has been excellent all year. I am not pointing any fingers here but I found that interesting. DD should only be taking open 3's or if he gets caught late clock with the ball.

Eason, Mason, and Saunders either gone win it or lose it for us today! From here on out until they leave UC this group have play like upperclassman.

He really just shouldn't be taking them. They are tanking his ORTG and the teams.

But if he just sets others up and lets them shoot (38% as a team from 3 the 4 games he was out) then he can be very valuable. He can have an assist rate over 30 if we let the other guys shoot. And he's one of the few guys that has a good pull up game, so I don't cringe when he pump fakes a 3 and shoots a runner (46.9% from the midrange vs 19.2% from 3.)

For the time being I would agree here. But once his mindset/confidence gets right (probably next season) I am assuming he can make over 30% on low volume like he did at Mich. For now we need to let Davenport and Mason get the volume.

if he wants to take only catch and shoot ones, i won't complain, but never off the bounce and definitely not the harden step backs.

the team looks to really be practicing pump fake and one dribble left or right and shoot. Madsen and Davenport and both taken a few of them lately.

I like how the skill of our players improve throughout the year. You saw it a ton with Scott last year and you can see it with multiple guys this year. I'm not sure we are used to in season progression like that.

Hoping for a good game today.

As much hype as Mason is getting now, I hope he covers the spread on the defensive end as well. Trading 3Pt buckets for multiple blow buys has me just a bit concerned.

This is were the game will be won or lost.

Let's go Cats!

Agree on set shots from DD. Mason does a lot of pump fakes. He also does quite a few pass fakes. With a ball popping scheme...the fake pass and quick reverse or fake to perimeter pass and then entry to the post makes the offense work better. We have too many guys staring down their target and advertising where the ball is going. He does get a little carried away on cross court stuff but we have seen that a lot as a team this year.

When DD is in there is a total different style of play it seems. It's more creating off the dribble rather than keep the ball popping and letting the D chase it and get tired. Starting to see the plan with shooters and passers. But we need the play makers too.

I would imagine we won't need to see a lot of DD today as long as the other guards aren't struggling too bad. Maybe 15-20 minutes. A lot of progress has been made in 4 games. I don't think we can hand him back the keys in first game back. We are hoping SMU is rusty so we don't need to counter that by forcing DD in the game too much. Hoping DD has a killer game though and the time off was all he needed to come back on top of his game.

3 points the last 6 minutes.

That was a bad charge call though. Collins side stepped the set guy and the defender had to puff his chest out and slide to his left. That is not a charge.

They've given the benefit of the doubt to the defender all season. Whether or not that is actually a charge, they've been calling it a charge all year. Collins needs to be smarter there, plenty of time to play under control and find a good shot.

Plenty of time? It happened with 4 seconds left. USF had been unable to get a shot up that wasn't at the end of the shot clock for 6 minutes.
