SMU has some good players and I fully expect them to be a force at their place, but the difference between our frontcourts is massive this season.

Chargois went for 12 against Arizona, 21 against Western Kentucky, 21 against TCU, 16 against Boise State, and we really made him look like true freshman tonight.

Ben Moore and Semi Ojeleye gave us nonstop fits last season and SMU is really missing their size and versatility in the post.

I think we are better than Virginia also. They are good but aren’t as good as they’ve been the last couple years. Also Kenpom tends to love slower paced defensive teams also. Virginia is always near the top.

Yeah I honestly feel like they're usually a little overrated. Like I said ACC always has its extra boost

i dunno, I watched them and they can really shoot the ball. I think they may end up being a better team than. most people expected.

Obliterated. I knew Cincy's defense was going to be tough, but it was overwhelming. We only have 3 guys returning from last year's team, the rest are freshman and transfers. We haven't seen a swarming, athletic, fast defense like that and it was clear. Good win for you guys.

Clearly Cincy and Wichita State are 1-2 in the conference this year. Everyone else is 3-4-5. That game is going to be a rock fight.

In the meantime, stay healthy and we will see y'all at Moody!

I'm not saying we will win at Moody (we have before though), but I've never felt more confident going into Moody.


I think we figured out SMU. Just stay in front of your man and don't help on defense and they are easily beatable. They can't really convert at the rim and live and die on suckering you into helping. We stayed in front and only helped at the rim.

I will say; I truly believe that most fans love bitching about their team more than they do praising their team.

We just stomped a team who beat us 2x last year and made them look silly and this thread has 25 pages.

The Temple thread had 50 pages that same night.

And its not just UC fans, its fans of any team. I do find it odd though.


Either way, our guys deserve a lot of credit for the effort they put in. I've had my ups and downs with this team, but after a win like that and the way Gary and Jacob just played aggressive, it makes me feel a shit ton better.


Also, our defense was just amazing. Im confident in saying that this is Mick's best defensive team ever. We don't have to really hide anyone and we had guys who can come at you in waves on the defensive end.

Yeah I haven't actually watched them for a full game yet, but the times I did see them their offense seemed as stagnant as usualZ I'll have to try to catch their next game or two

People complain about everything more than they praise things. Jobs, food service, sports teams, life in general. Any sports talk radio show will tell you that they have more calls after a loss as opposed to a win. The fact that people are just now realizing this is confusing part.

Was a great win. Different players stepping up at different times. I loved that after Cronin got into Gary about shooting that jumper instead of attacking the rim, Cronin set up out of bounds plays to get gary the ball 1:1 in space and make him be aggressive....really got Gary going again. Evans was terrific. Washington played mostly poorly but came out strong on the boards the beginning of the second half. Broome brought energy and an attack mindset in the 1st. Cumberland shot still is off but I liked him getting in the passing lanes again. Heck I even appreciated Jenifer getting up on his man and frustrating him in the second half...though he was a liability on defense as they isolated him a bunch.

Overall great win...plenty of things that still need work, but tough to dwell on those when you dominate like that.

That temple game deserved 100 pages, it was awful.

Broome was the magic man again. Entered the game trailing 9-5 and we quickly pushed it up to a 14-11 lead in his 5 minutes. Went to the bench, came back in a couple minutes later up 15-11 and we pushed it to a 27-13 lead in the next 3 minutes.


Looked like he re-injured the ankle late in the 1st and he really struggled after that, but man those 8 minutes we were +17 and it really turned the game around.

Great win!! I kept hoping we would win by nearly 20 or more. Just sounds and feels better. I hope we don't let other teams dictate to us how to play. From here on out, take it to all the crappy teams in our conference.

Exactly, how much time do our guys have to actually practice their shots unless they do it on their own time? I have no idea, it may not be a contributing factor at all, I've never seen a Cronin run practice. Based off how he coaches though my educated guess would be it tends to be more defensive heavy.

I know when we had the layoff around Christmas, Coach Cronin said we did 2 a days to get revved back up and the first one was always all offense. We really do get good looks. It's not a massive struggle like it was at times in previous years. Could be better and we could cut down on TOs, but the shots are there for guys. We move the ball pretty well imo.

Gary Clark is the Bearcats.

I don't want to ever watch anyone else in #11 at UC. I think Evans wanted to be #23 originally didn't he? Did Cronin tell him it was off limits? I could see the same for Clark. He's an all-time favorite and a legend. I'll make my grandkids listen to stories about Gary Clark someday lol.
