Outside of FC Cincinnati fans, Cincinnati fans in general are pathetic. They have to be given a reason to go, have to be given incentives and nice seats and whatever else to give them a great fan experience. I go to see the team and see the game. I'd watch it in any arena anywhere. I stood before the Memphis game singing the fight song when the band played before the game and looked around and maybe 20 people in the whole arena were standing and joining. I've griped for years about how lame our fans are. When the students don't show up and get loud the arena is just dull and thus year has been especially dull. I hope like hell tonight is better cause I really think we need he home crowd advantage.

I agree with this so much, as a die hard fan I was always jumping and screaming during games at home or when I attended. It was so hard watching the fan base disappear after Huggins was gone. Instead of supporting a new coach and doing what we could to keep the program going it was nearly abandoned for half a decade. Makes me really happy the only Cincinnati team I am a fan of is the bearcats. My father is from Pennsylvania so grew up with the Steelers, penguins and pirates. My mom from Cincinnati is the exact opposite, really lucked out there lol.

It's public perception. In the end it really doesn't matter that much, but to outsiders it really can.

but from week to week? does it change a thing to anybody if we are 19 or 13?

i just dont think it matters to any potential recruit or to our national branding on a week to week basis as long as we are somewhere in the top 25 (i can buy having our name in the top 25 scroll and in the national polls is worth something of value)

The reality is UC lost a lot of dedicated fans when Huggins was fired. And then we tried to become a football first school. Add in the long rebuild and you have a dedicated fan problem.

Huggins fans are taking the longest to support the program again. But it’s slowky getting better and season ticket sales show that. I remember my first job was with Bb riverboats and we also catered and fed the players and coaches before every game and then ran the dinner at the UCATS club. It was a cool experience but one thing I noticed was how full the ucats club was on a nightly basis. We just don’t have that kinda support yet. I think ucats club has been closed for dinner for a while now.

In an age where people have amazing sports experiences in the comforts of their own home, you have to really entice people to get out and support the program. This new arena should help that.

But that's the problem, look at fans of other teams, you go through a rough patch you don't just abandon the team. I know we aren't the only fan base to act that way, but I wouldn't consider it any excuse. Cincinnati fans are dedicated, look at the bengals every year, at the beginning of the season is all they can talk about, by the end dalton is terrible and so on.. I hated when we lost huggins, I grew up going to games and watching him coach, when his time ended with us it hurt. But I didn't just grow up with him I grew up with the bearcats. I remember going from every bearcats game on fox19 to being able to watch them on tv a few times a year, but I never quit I watched when I could and followed them the same as ever. Just wish more fans had that way of thinking, but I know everyone is always gonna be so committed.

Right but there are levels to it, are 13 and 19 that different, no probably not. But are 9 and 19, heck yeah. And you gotta build your way back up there sometime, we aren't just gonna jump to the top ten one day, so yes small steps do matter. And if we end up in the top ten and don't stumble til witchita state or at SMU, we will have been there for over a month and might have cemented our place the remainder of the season. So yes in the end, rankings are very important in certain situations.

Saw a tweet saying Cumberland, Williams, and Moore were 0-9 with 0 pts in 53 minutes last game. Troubling on the road, but we should get more out of those guys today.

Chad has a video on twitter of Cane doing some light cutting and says its looking good so far.

Encouraging!

Great news thanks for posting. As Jake pointed out if we don't get better production from Williams,Cumberland and Moore. Broome's contributions will be a must against SMU.

After not returning to the court initially with the rest of the team for lay up lines, Cane came back late and joined the line.

Hopefully thats a good sign.

I know this isn't the player Cumberland is. I know that he is just in a bad funk. Been a lot of concern about him lately but I'm still very certain he will break out of it.

If Cumberland could fix his shot our offense would be so much better. He has missed so many wide open looks this year.

Another iffy travel call. These refs man

And then a guy takes 4 steps and they don't call it. Good God AAC refs are a joke.
