Some Cracks exposed

A big part of that is it it's extremely easier to slow a game down than speed it up. It's not like UC was walking the ball up.

I'm starting to believe this up-tempo style is just a farce. UC's half-court offense is a disgrace to the game of basketball. It's very enjoyable to watch one guy dribble the ball for seven seconds and drive it unsuccessfully 1 v. 5, pop it out for a guy who bricks a three and get one possession.

The cats don't have guys with the ability to blow by their man on a consistent basis so in this style of offense they're forced to jack threes at an alarming rate. It's quite maddening.

I love sk's aggressiveness but 27 shots is really out of control. He did the same vs xavier. He needs to settle down and let the game come to him

The problem is, if he doesnt shoot...no one else will. Cash and Parker are the only other options. Every other player receives a pass and looks to pass it right back out. They dont even look at the basket

Its like they are so scared to make a mistake. Cant play that way

I think Shaq Thomas is very close to being a key part of this team, long, lanky, can get to the rim, plays Above the rim. He has all the intangibles to become a future bearcat star.

Except Rubles. He didn't show it much last night, but he is the king of reckless driving (along with Jackson I suppose). Those two shouldn't really ever have the ball for longer than 4 seconds.

The game last night was a few weeks in the making, ever since the Marshall game. Alabama exposed us and teams since have been using their gameplan and haven't had success b/c they didn't have the talent, well NM had the talent. Teams have been pulling out their big guys to the top of the key, thus pulling our big guys out, then dumping down into lane for easy buckets or kicking inside then back out to corner for 3. Sometimes I think that we should switch defenses up a little, or a press into a 2-3 zone to avoid having our bigs not in position to rebound (They don't box out either.)

We need a 4th scorer to stand up to make a deep run. Parker shot 14 times to get 14 pts, Killa shot 22 times to get 15 pts. Parker and SK account for half of team's total shots shooting 10-36. This is not efficient at all. We simply have nobody other than the 3 that is a reliable scorer. Jackson 0-6, Rubles 1-6. We are weak around the rim and don't finish strong, get pushed out of lane for rebounds. Only shooting 4 FT's is also unacceptable. We knew that the refs were going to call a close game being from the Mtn. West, we should have adjusted and attacked the rim trying to get fouls on their bigs and shoot more FT's. Thomas is developing nicely but until he adds 20-30 lbs he won't finish at rim or absorb contact and score especially in Big East. We also need to impose our will on the other team and dictate our tempo. X, NM, Marshall and ALA all dictated tempo.

This game was lost in the first half. We shot 5 of 26 INSIDE the arc and 5-13 outside the arc. The last 3 games the first half we have been in a funk and it caught up with us. We have some cracks exposed and our defense masks some of them.

Agreed.

We discussed Rubles last night. That shot has no business being on a division 1 floor. He needs to show his athleticism by crashing the boards, getting easy put back layups/dunks. He could be an exciting player

Another point.

UC held Oregon (10-2) to 66 points. Their second lowest offensive output of their season.

UC held Alabama (7-4) to 56 points, their second lowest offensive output of their season.

UC held Marshall (7-6) to 56 points, their second lowest offensive output of their season.

UC held Xavier (7-4) to 45 points, their lowest offensive output of the season.

UC held Wright St. (8-4) to 58 points, their 6th lowest output of the season.

UC held New Mexico (13-1) to 55 points, their LOWEST output of the season. Previous low was 65 points.

THE DEFENSE IS STIFLING.

Geez. If we could simply average 60 ppg we'd be undefeated. FIX THE OFFENSE.

i think we all realize that this team will go as far as Cash takes them...having Cash out of the game due to foul trouble, it decimated the flow/production of the team...Parker provides a fundamental/dependable play to spell Cash in the short term, but he is not as effective as he is when he receives the ball in a triple threat position...he cannot push the pace like Cash down the floor, not only due to speed, but because the kid is so damn tired from playing the 3/4 position...before the game i was concerned about our lack of backup PGs, and after last night, i am borderline worried as the team heads into conference/tournament (hopefully) play...i am confident this team will recover/regroup and will win many games...last night hopefully was an eye-opener for the guys...its going to be a fun winter

Go Bearcats!

when the half court offense is abysmal..... the solution isnt rocket science.. DONT GET INTO HALF COURT SITUATIONS.

TEMPO. Run. I dont care if you dont have numbers you push the ball at a ridiculous pace.

We could have exhausted those two bigs if we just ran the ball. I dont care if its one on five, run the ball up the court and go from there.

Let me coach Mick, I could solve the half court misery. We would never be in the half court.

That's a hell of a point. That porker on New Mexico would have been sucking wind big time.

I hope ur right but I look at it this way. You dont ask an offensive lineman to go play wr. His shot is that bad and Id just like to take his talents and use them to help this team win, now. Take what ur players have and put them in the best position to win.

His athletic ability far outweighs his scoring. No reason he cant attack the glass and be a high flyer. Give the crowd something to be excited about and maybe he can feed off that

I would like to see Thomas more. Think he could be the mid range scorer we need.
