I think everyone would be okay with a little more court time for Logan Johnson, but a couple things on my mind:

- Cronin has NEVER played to "developing for next year" when it comes to real game time. That work is done in practice, off-season, etc
- Logan Johnson is good, and promising. Let's not go saying he's something more at this point.

He is behind two senior guards (and we know how Cronin loves his seniors), and needs to work on things that usually need working on with freshmen such as turnovers and shot form.

Jenifer is leading the country in assist-turnover ratio by 1.5!

I’m not sure I’d consider SC state as a real game. ;)

At this point I don't think anyone is saying Jenifer needs to have his minutes reduced except perhaps in games like this one. That was not always the case but he's been doing a great job this year so far and most of the fans are now on board the Jenifer train. Not only from a ball handling aspect but he is knocking down 3's and we need that just as much right now.

That being said...there are many reasons you try to get players in the game that are on the bench...only one of them being get them ready for next year. You never know what is going to happen as the season progresses. One player can turn an ankle and be out for a few games. This past game was one of those games we could get guys like Johnson and Diarra extended minutes to help in the case of emergency type use later on.

We all get that he has two seniors in front of him but that may not always be the case. Particularly in light of the struggles of Broome...but illness/injury etc can come into play...knock on wood. Always be prepared

Well said!

This is what I have been harping on since I went to the first exhibition game and noticed LoJo was by far the best player on the Court with the possible exception of Cumberland but with more potential. LoJo could contribute heavily this year but is not set up to do so now because of Cronin.

lol

remember. Cronin recruited him here to UC when no big schools in the west looked at him and that is with his brother in the NBA. ESPN gave him only two stars. Something to think about. Seeing how good he is the whole situation is strange.
Yes I agree this is something to think about. I wonder if he is a late bloomer. I admit we really have not seen what kind of shooter he is. All we know is that he is super quick, has very good ball handling skills and likes to get to the rim. He seems to almost be a contrast to Jennifer and possibly counter to Mick’e style of play. I fear that is why he is not getting minutes and that he will eventually have to conform to a more deliberate style before being inserted. Many Broom fans have complained along these lines with him. Every time I have seen or heard LoJo in the game he has brought value. I think there may have been a couple instances when it was momentum changing value when the starters were stalled as we have seen happen this year. So I have a hard time adjusting to what appears to be a deep bench role but I am more than happy with the progress in the starting five. At least it will make an interesting season. When the fab five came in every upped classman was thrown under the bus. Is Michigan beating us in the final four if that is not the case? I don’t think so.

No I do not. Have a nice Xmas.

Guys I have enjoyed the ride hear at Bearcattalk but feel it is time to move on. Hope everyone enjoys the Holidays.
I apologize if I was harsh. I have read your posts for a long time and know you have supreme basketball knowledge. Also you are generally very courteous so thanks. Have a nice holiday. This is a great forum.

I saw LoJo at the Princeton HS exhibition. He was flying around, making plays, enthusiastic, chasing down offensive players. Has long arms. I too feel he should be worked in a Little bit more because he has a skill set that some others do not have and even his ceiling for this year may be helpful come March.

That said, I know Coach often does not give playing time in games like this to develop players. He uses practices and summers and I’m sure texts and meetings, etc to bring players along. If I had my choice tho, I would have played him and Diarra nearly the whole second half.

Totally agree.
I dont see what the harm is in giving people some playing time in a blow out (Obviously it’s a different story if the person has been clowning in practice and not playing defense) Because you never know when someone might get injured. Or in foul trouble.

I never understand that about coaches. The same thing about taking starters out. I will see Star players in near the end of a game for absolutely no reason. Why take the risk of an injury.?
